절	공동번역 개정판 (1999)	King James Version
1	여호사밧 그의 아들 여호사밧이 뒤를 이어 왕위에 올라 이스라엘에 강경 정책을 폈다.	And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
2	그는 요새화된 유다 성읍들에 군대를 배치하고 유다 전국과 선왕 아사가 정복한 에브라임 성읍들에도 수비대를 배치하였다.	And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
3	여호사밧은 선왕이 처음에 살던 본을 따라 살았으며 바알신들을 찾지 않았다. 이것을 보시고 야훼께서는 그와 함께 하셨다.	And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
4	그가 선왕의 하느님을 찾고 그의 계명을 따라 살면서 이스라엘 사람들의 행동을 따르지 않았으므로	But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
5	야훼께서 그의 통치를 굳건하게 하셨고 온 유다 백성이 선물을 바치니 그의 부귀는 대단하였다.	Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
6	그는 야훼께서 가르쳐주신 대로 살기로 단단히 결심하고 산당들과 아세라 목상들을 유다에서 쓸어 없애버렸다.	And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
7	또 그는 왕이 된 지 삼 년 되던 해에 백성들을 가르치려고 벤하일, 오바디야, 즈가리야, 느다넬, 미가야 등 대신들을 유다 성읍들로 보냈다.	Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Ben–hail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
8	또 그들과 더불어 스마야, 느다니야, 즈바디야, 아사헬, 스미라못, 여호나단, 아도니야, 토비야 등 레위인들을 사제 엘리사마, 여호람과 함께 파송하였다.	And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob–adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
9	그들은 야훼의 법전을 가지고 유다 전국을 돌며 가르쳤다. 유다 성읍들을 하나도 빼놓지 않고 돌며 백성을 가르쳤다.	And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
10	유다 주위에 있는 모든 나라들은 야훼를 두려워하여 감히 여호사밧에게 싸움을 걸지 못하였다.	And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11	불레셋에서 여호사밧에게 선물로 은을 가져다 바치는 사람들이 있는가 하면 아랍인들은 숫양 칠천칠백 마리와 숫염소 칠천칠백 마리를 바쳤다.	Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
12	이렇게 하여 여호사밧은 점점 강대해졌다. 그는 유다 나라 안에 요새들을 세우고 군수물자 보급성들을 세웠다.	And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
13	이렇게 그는 유다 성읍들에 많은 일을 해놓았으며 예루살렘에는 정예부대를 배치해 두었다.	And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
14	가문별로 병적에 오른 부대는 아래와 같다. 유다 가문의 천인부대 사령관들로서 아드나 사령관 밑에 삼십만,	And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
15	그 다음으로 여호하난 밑에 이십팔만,	And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
16	그 다음으로 야훼를 위해 자원해 나선 지그리의 아들 아마시야 밑에 이십만,	And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
17	베냐민 가문에서는 용장 엘리아다 밑에 방패를 들고 활을 쏘는 병사 이십만,	And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
18	그 다음으로 여호사밧 밑에 무장한 병사 십팔만이 있었다.	And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
19	이들이 왕을 모시는 병사들이었다. 그 밖에도 왕이 유다 전국의 요새화된 성읍들에 배치한 병사들이 있었다.	These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
