1	다윗이 온 이스라엘의 임금이 되다 온 이스라엘이 헤브론에 있는 다윗을 찾아와서 청하였다. "우리는 임금님과 한 골육입니다.	Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2	전에 사울이 우리의 왕이었을 때도, 이스라엘을 거느리고 출전하신 이는 임금님이시었습니다. 임금님을 뽑아 세우신 하느님 야훼께서, 임금님께 당신의 백성 이스라엘의 목자가 되라고 분부하시지 않으셨습니까? 당신의 백성 이스라엘의 영도자가 되라고 하시지 않으셨습니까?"	And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.
3	이스라엘 장로들이 모두 헤브론으로 와서 왕 앞에 나섰다. 다윗은 헤브론에서 야훼를 모시고 그들과 계약을 맺었다. 비로소 이스라엘은, 야훼께서 사무엘을 시켜 말씀하신 대로, 다윗에게 기름을 부어 그를 왕으로 모시게 되었다.	Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.
4	다윗은 온 이스라엘 군을 거느리고 여부스라고도 불리는 예루살렘으로 갔다.	And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5	여부스 주민들은 "네가 이리로 쳐들어오려느냐? 어림도 없다." 하고 조롱했지만, 다윗은 기어이 그 견고한 성 시온을 점령하고 말았다. 그리하여 예루살렘은 다윗의 도성이 되었다.	And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6	다윗이 "누구든지 여부스인을 먼저 쳐죽이는 사람을 총사령관으로 삼겠다." 하자, 스루야의 아들 요압이 제일 먼저 쳐 올라가 총사령관이 되었다.	And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7	다윗은 그 견고한 성에 자리를 잡았다. 그래서 그 성을 다윗의 도성이라고 부르게 되었다.	And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8	다윗은 밀로에서 시작하여 한 바퀴 돌아가면서 성을 쌓았고 나머지 부분은 요압이 쌓았다.	And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9	만군의 야훼께서 다윗과 함께 하셨으므로 그의 세력은 날로 커졌다.	So David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.
10	다윗의 부하 장군들 야훼께서 이스라엘 백성에게 하신 말씀을 따라 다윗이 나라를 세울 때, 온 이스라엘과 함께 그를 왕으로 모시는 데 공을 세운 장군들은 다음과 같다.	These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
11	다윗의 부하 용사들의 명단. 야소브암. 그는 하그모니의 아들로서 삼용사의 우두머리이다. 그가 한 번 창을 휘두르면 삼백 명이 쓰러졌다.	And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.
12	버금으로, 엘르아잘. 아호 사람 도도의 아들로서 역시 삼용사 가운데 하나이다.	And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.
13	그는 불레셋 군이 바스담밈에 집결하여 싸움을 걸어왔을 때 다윗과 함께 있었다. 밭에 보리가 무르익었을 때였다. 이스라엘 군이 모두 무서워 도망치는데도,	He was with David at Pas–dammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14	엘르아잘은 혼자 밭 한복판에 버티고 서서 불레셋 군과 싸워 곡식을 고스란히 건졌다. 야훼의 승리였다.	And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance.
15	삼십인부대 가운데 세 용사가 바위 꼭대기에 있는 동굴로 다윗을 찾아간 일이 있었다. 그 때 불레셋 군은 르바임 골짜기에 진을 치고 있었다.	Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16	다윗은 산채에 있었고 불레셋 주둔군은 베들레헴에 있었다.	And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Beth–lehem.
17	다윗이 목이 타서 "누가 베들레헴 성문께 있는 우물물을 길어다 주었으면." 하고 중얼거리자,	And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, that is at the gate!
18	그 세 사람이 불레셋 진을 뚫고 들어가 베들레헴 성문께 있는 우물물을 길어다 다윗에게 바쳤다. 그러나 다윗은 차마 그 물을 마실 수가 없어 그것을 야훼께 부어드리고는,	And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the Lord,
19	"이것을 마시다니, 천벌받을 일이다. 목숨을 걸고 길어온 이 물은 이 세 사람의 피와 다름없는데, 내가 어찌 이 물을 마시랴?" 하며 끝내 그 물을 마시지 않았다. 그 셋은 이런 일을 해낸 용사들이다.	And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
20	아비새. 그는 요압의 아우로서 삼십인부대 수령이다. 그는 한 번 창을 휘둘러 삼백 명이나 쓰러뜨림으로써 삼십인부대에 낄 만큼 유명해졌다.	And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.
21	그는 삼십인부대 가운데서는 누구보다도 뛰어나 그들의 수령이 되었으나 삼용사 축에는 들지 못하였다.	Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.
22	브나야. 그는 캅스엘 출신으로 여호야다의 아들이다. 그는 많은 공을 세운 장사였다. 그는 모압 장사 두 사람을 쳐죽였고, 눈 오는 날 구렁에 빠진 사자를 그 구렁에 들어가 죽인 일이 있다.	Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
23	그는 또 키가 구 척이나 되는 이집트인을 쳐죽인 일도 있다. 그 이집트인은 창대가 베틀의 용두머리만큼 굵은 창을 들고 있었는데, 브나야는 몽치 하나를 들고 내려가서 그 이집트인의 손에서 창을 빼앗아가지고 그를 찔러 죽였다.	And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.
24	여호야다의 아들 브나야도 이런 일로 해서 삼십인부대에 낄 만큼 유명해졌다.	These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.
25	그는 삼십인부대 가운데서 이름을 떨쳤으나 삼용사 축에는 들지 못하였다. 다윗은 그를 자기의 호위대장으로 삼았다.	Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.
26	장사들의 명단은 다음과 같다. 요압의 아우 아사헬, 베들레헴 출신 도도의 아들 엘하난,	Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth–lehem,
27	하롯 출신 삼못, 블론 출신 헬레스,	Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28	드고아 출신 익케스의 아들 이라, 아나돗 출신 아비에젤,	Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi–ezer the Antothite,
29	후사 출신 십개, 아호 사람 일래,	Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30	느토바 사람 마하래, 느토바 사람 바아나의 아들 헬렛,	Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31	베냐민 지방 기브아 출신 리배의 아들 이대, 비라돈 사람 브나야,	Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
32	가스 계곡 출신 후래, 아라바 사람 아비엘,	Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33	바후림 사람 아즈마웻, 살본 사람 엘랴흐바,	Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
34	기존 사람 하셈, 하랄 사람 사게의 아들 요나단,	The sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite,
35	하랄 사람 사갈의 아들 아히암, 우르의 아들 엘리발,	Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36	므게라 사람 헤벨, 블론 사람 아히야,	Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,
37	가르멜 사람 헤스로, 에즈배의 아들 나아래,	Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,

42	르우벤 지파의 수령으로서 삼십인부대를 거느리던 르우벤 사람 시자의 아들 아디나,	Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a captain of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,
43	마아가의 아들 하난, 메덴 사람 요사밧,	Hanan the son of Maachah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,
44	아스다롯 사람 우찌야, 아로엘 사람 호담의 아들 사마와 여이엘,	Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jehiel the sons of Hothan the Aroerite,
45	디스 사람 시므리의 아들 여디아엘과 아우 요하,	Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46	마핫 사람 엘리엘, 엘나암의 아들 예리배와 요사야, 모압 사람 이드마,	Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
47	소바 출신 엘리엘, 오벳, 야시엘.	Eliel, and Obed, and Jasiel the Mesobaite.
