1	유다인들의 전통 그 후 예루살렘에서 바리사이파 사람들과 율법학자들이 예수께 와서	Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2	"당신의 제자들은 왜 조상들의 전통을 어기고 있습니까? 그들은 음식을 먹을 때에 손을 씻지 않으니 어찌 된 일입니까?" 하고 물었다.	Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3	예수께서 이렇게 대답하셨다. "너희는 왜 너희의 전통을 핑계 삼아 하느님의 계명을 어기고 있느냐?	But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4	하느님께서는 '부모를 공경하여라.' 하셨고 또 '아버지나 어머니를 욕하는 자는 반드시 사형을 받아야 한다.' 하셨다.	For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5	그런데 너희는 사람을 가르칠 때 누구든지 아버지나 어머니에게 해드릴 것을 '하느님께 바쳤다.' 하고 말만 하면	But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6	아버지나 어머니를 봉양하지 않아도 괜찮다고 한다. 이렇게 너희는 너희의 전통을 핑계 삼아 하느님의 말씀을 무시하고 있다.	And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7	이 위선자들아, 이사야는 바로 너희를 두고 이렇게 예언하였다.	Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8	'이 백성이 입술로는 나를 공경하여도 마음은 나에게서 멀리 떠나 있구나!	This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9	그들은 나를 헛되이 예배하며 사람의 계명을 하느님의 것인 양 가르친다.'"	But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10	예수께서 군중을 가까이 불러모으시고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너희는 내 말을 잘 들어라.	And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11	입으로 들어가는 것은 사람을 더럽히지 않는다. 더럽히는 것은 오히려 입에서 나오는 것이다."	Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12	그 때에 제자들이 와서 예수께 "바리사이파 사람들이 지금 하신 말씀을 듣고 비위가 상한 것을 아십니까?" 하고 물었다.	Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13	예수께서 이렇게 대답하셨다. "하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 심지 않으신 나무는 모두 뽑힐 것이다.	But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14	그대로 버려두어라. 그들은 눈먼 길잡이들이다. 소경이 소경을 인도하면 둘 다 구렁에 빠진다."	Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15	베드로가 나서서 "그 비유의 뜻을 풀이해 주십시오." 하고 청하자	Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16	예수께서 이렇게 설명하셨다. "너희도 아직 알아듣지 못하였느냐?	And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17	입으로 들어가는 것은 무엇이나 뱃속에 들어갔다가 뒤로 나가지 않느냐?	Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18	그런데 입에서 나오는 것은 마음에서 나오는 것인데 바로 그것이 사람을 더럽힌다.	But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19	마음에서 나오는 것은 살인, 간음, 음란, 도둑질, 거짓 증언, 모독과 같은 여러 가지 악한 생각들이다.	For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20	이런 것들이 사람을 더럽히는 것이지 손을 씻지 않고 먹는 것이 사람을 더럽히는 것은 아니다." ()	These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21	가나안 여자의 믿음 예수께서 거기를 떠나 띠로와 시돈 지방으로 가셨다.	Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22	이 때 그 지방에 와 사는 가나안 여자 하나가 나서서 큰소리로 "다윗의 자손이시여, 저에게 자비를 베풀어주십시오. 제 딸이 마귀가 들려 몹시 시달리고 있습니다." 하고 계속 간청하였다.	And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23	그러나 예수께서는 아무 대답도 하지 않으셨다. 그 때에 제자들이 가까이 와서 "저 여자가 소리를 지르며 따라오고 있으니 돌려보내시는 것이 좋겠습니다." 하고 말씀 드렸다.	But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24	예수께서는 "나는 길 잃은 양과 같은 이스라엘 백성만을 찾아 돌보라고 해서 왔다." 하고 말씀하셨다.	But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25	그러자 그 여자가 예수께 다가와서 꿇어 엎드려 "주님, 저를 도와주십시오." 하고 애원하였다. 그러나	Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26	예수께서는 "자녀들이 먹을 빵을 강아지에게 던져주는 것은 옳지 않다." 하며 거절하셨다.	But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27	그러자 그 여자는 "주님, 그렇긴 합니다마는 강아지도 주인의 상에서 떨어지는 부스러기는 주워 먹지 않습니까?" 하고 말하였다.	And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28	그제야 예수께서는 "여인아! 참으로 네 믿음이 장하다. 네 소원대로 이루어질 것이다." 하고 말씀하셨다. 바로 그 순간에 그 여자의 딸이 나았다.	Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29	많은 병자를 고쳐주신 예수 예수께서 그 곳을 떠나 갈릴래아 호숫가를 지나서 산에 올라가 앉으셨다.	And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30	그러자 많은 군중이 절름발이와 소경과 곰배팔이와 벙어리와 그 밖의 많은 병자를 예수의 발 앞에 데려다 놓았다. 예수께서는 그들을 다 고쳐주셨다.	And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
31	그리하여 벙어리가 말을 하고 곰배팔이가 성해지고 절름발이가 제대로 걷고 소경이 눈을 뜬 것을 군중이 보고 크게 놀라 이스라엘의 하느님을 찬양하였다. ()	Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32	사천 명을 먹이신 기적 그 때에 예수께서 제자들을 불러 "이 많은 사람들이 벌써 사흘 동안이나 나와 함께 지내면서 아무것도 먹지 못하였으니 참 보기에 안 되었구나. 가다가 길에서 쓰러질지도 모르니 그들을 굶겨 보내서야 되겠느냐?" 하고 말씀하셨다.	Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33	제자들이 "이런 외딴 곳에서 이 많은 사람들을 배불리 먹일 만한 빵을 어떻게 구하겠습니까?" 하자	And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34	예수께서 "빵이 몇 개나 있느냐?" 하고 물으셨다. 그들이 "빵 일곱 개와 작은 물고기 몇 마리뿐입니다." 하니까	And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35	예수께서는 사람들을 땅에 앉게 하시고	And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36	빵 일곱 개와 물고기를 손에 들고 하느님께 감사의 기도를 드리신 다음 떼어서 제자들에게 주셨다. 제자들은 그것을 사람들에게 나누어주었다.	And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37	사람들은 모두 배불리 먹었다. 그리고 남은 조각을 주워모으니 일곱 바구니에 가득 찼다.	And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38	먹은 사람은 여자와 어린이들 외에 남자만도 사천 명이나 되었다.	And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39	예수께서는 군중을 돌려보내시고 나서 배를 타고 마가단 지방으로 가셨다.	And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
