1	성령이 주시는 생명 그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수와 함께 사는 사람들은 결코 단죄받는 일이 없습니다.	There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2	그것은 그리스도 예수와 함께 생명을 누리게 하는 성령의 법이 나를 죄와 죽음의 법에서 해방시켜 주었기 때문입니다.	For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3	인간의 본성이 약하기 때문에 율법이 이룩할 수 없었던 것을 하느님께서 이룩하셨습니다. 하느님께서는 당신의 아들을 죄 많은 인간의 모습으로 보내어 그 육체를 죽이심으로써 이 세상의 죄를 없이 하셨습니다.	For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4	이렇게 해서 육체를 따라 살지 않고 성령을 따라 사는 우리 속에서 율법의 요구가 모두 이루어졌습니다.	That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5	육체를 따라 사는 사람들은 육체적인 것에 마음을 쓰고 성령을 따라 사는 사람들은 영적인 것에 마음을 씁니다.	For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6	육체적인 것에 마음을 쓰면 죽음이 오고 영적인 것에 마음을 쓰면 생명과 평화가 옵니다.	For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7	육체적인 것에 마음을 쓰는 사람은 하느님의 율법에 복종하지도 않고 또 복종할 수도 없기 때문에 하느님의 원수가 되고 맙니다.	Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8	육체를 따라 사는 사람들은 하느님을 기쁘게 해드릴 수가 없습니다.	So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9	사실 하느님의 성령께서 여러분 안에 계시다면 여러분은 육체를 따라 사는 사람이 아니라 성령을 따라 사는 사람입니다. 그러나 그리스도의 성령을 모시지 못한 사람은 그리스도의 사람이 아닙니다.	But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10	비록 여러분의 몸은 죄 때문에 죽었을지라도 그리스도께서 여러분 안에 계시면 여러분은 이미 하느님과 올바른 관계에 있기 때문에 여러분의 영은 살아 있습니다.	And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11	그리고 예수를 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리신 분의 성령께서 여러분 안에 계시면 그리스도를 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리신 분께서 여러분 안에 살아 계신 당신의 성령을 시켜 여러분의 죽을 몸까지도 살려주실 것입니다.	But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12	그러므로 형제 여러분, 우리는 과연 빚을 진 사람입니다. 그러나 육체에 빚을 진 것은 아닙니다. 그러니 우리는 육체를 따라 살 의무는 없습니다.	Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13	육체를 따라 살면 여러분은 죽습니다. 그러나 성령의 힘으로 육체의 악한 행실을 죽이면 삽니다.	For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14	누구든지 하느님의 성령의 인도를 따라 사는 사람은 하느님의 자녀입니다.	For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15	여러분이 받은 성령은 여러분을 다시 노예로 만들어서 공포에 몰아넣으시는 분이 아니라 여러분을 하느님의 자녀로 만들어주시는 분이십니다. 그래서 우리는 그 성령에 힘입어 하느님을 "아빠, 아버지!"라고 부릅니다.	For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16	바로 그 성령께서 우리가 하느님의 자녀라는 것을 증명해 주십니다. 또 우리의 마음속에도 그러한 확신이 있습니다.	The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17	자녀가 되면 또한 상속자도 되는 것입니다. 과연 우리는 하느님의 상속자로서 그리스도와 함께 상속을 받을 사람입니다. 우리가 그리스도와 함께 고난을 받고 있으니 영광도 그와 함께 받을 것이 아닙니까?	And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18	고통에서 영광으로 장차 우리에게 나타날 영광에 비추어보면 지금 우리가 겪고 있는 고통은 아무것도 아니라고 생각합니다.	For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19	모든 피조물은 하느님의 자녀가 나타나기를 간절히 기다리고 있습니다.	For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20	피조물이 제 구실을 못하게 된 것은 제 본의가 아니라 하느님께서 그렇게 만드신 것입니다. 그러나 거기에는 희망이 있습니다.	For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21	곧 피조물에게도 멸망의 사슬에서 풀려나서 하느님의 자녀들이 누리는 영광스러운 자유에 참여할 날이 올 것입니다.	Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22	우리는 모든 피조물이 오늘날까지 다 함께 신음하며 진통을 겪고 있다는 것을 알고 있습니다.	For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23	피조물만이 아니라 성령을 하느님의 첫 선물로 받은 우리 자신도 하느님의 자녀가 되는 날과 우리의 몸이 해방될 날을 고대하면서 속으로 신음하고 있습니다.	And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24	우리는 이 희망으로 구원을 받았습니다. 눈에 보이는 것을 바라는 것은 희망이 아닙니다. 눈에 보이는 것을 누가 바라겠습니까?	For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25	우리는 보이지 않는 것을 바라기에 참고 기다릴 따름입니다.	But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26	성령께서도 연약한 우리를 도와주십니다. 어떻게 기도해야 할지도 모르는 우리를 대신해서 말로 다 할 수 없을 만큼 깊이 탄식하시며 하느님께 간구해 주십니다.	Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27	이렇게 성령께서는 하느님의 뜻을 따라 성도들을 대신해서 간구해 주십니다. 그리고 마음속까지도 꿰뚫어 보시는 하느님께서는 그러한 성령의 생각을 잘 아십니다.	And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28	하느님을 사랑하는 사람들 곧 하느님의 계획에 따라 부르심을 받은 사람들에게는 모든 일이 서로 작용해서 좋은 결과를 이룬다는 것을 우리는 압니다.	And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29	하느님께서는 이미 오래 전에 택하신 사람들이 당신의 아들과 같은 모습을 가지도록 미리 정하셨습니다. 그래서 그리스도께서는 많은 형제 중에서 맏아들이 되셨습니다.	For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30	하느님께서는 미리 정하신 사람들을 불러주시고 부르신 사람들을 당신과 올바른 관계에 놓아주시고, 당신과 올바른 관계를 가진 사람들을 영광스럽게 해주셨습니다.	Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31	하느님의 사랑 그러니 이제 무슨 말을 더 하겠습니까? 하느님께서 우리 편이 되셨으니 누가 감히 우리와 맞서겠습니까?	What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32	우리 모든 사람을 위하여 당신의 아들까지 아낌없이 내어주신 하느님께서 그 아들과 함께 무엇이든지 다 주시지 않겠습니까?	He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33	하느님께서 택하신 사람들을 누가 감히 고소하겠습니까? 그들에게 무죄를 선언하시는 분이 하느님이신데	Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
34	누가 감히 그들을 단죄할 수 있겠습니까? 그리스도 예수께서 단죄하시겠습니까? 아닙니다. 그분은 우리를 위해서 돌아가셨을 뿐만 아니라 다시 살아나셔서 하느님 오른편에 앉아 우리를 위하여 대신 간구해 주시는 분이십니다.	Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35	누가 감히 우리를 그리스도의 사랑에서 떼어놓을 수 있겠습니까? 환난입니까? 역경입니까? 박해입니까? 굶주림입니까? 헐벗음입니까? 혹 위험이나 칼입니까?	Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36	우리의 처지는, "우리는 종일토록 당신을 위하여 죽어갑니다. 도살당할 양처럼 천대받습니다." 라는 성서의 말씀대로입니다.	As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37	그러나 우리는 우리를 사랑하시는 그분의 도움으로 이 모든 시련을 이겨내고도 남습니다.	Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38	나는 확신합니다. 죽음도 생명도 천사들도 권세의 천신들도 현재의 것도 미래의 것도 능력의 천신들도	For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39	높음도 깊음도 그 밖의 어떤 피조물도 우리 주 그리스도 예수를 통하여 나타날 하느님의 사랑에서 우리를 떼어놓을 수 없습니다.	Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
