| 1 | 我小子よ、是等の事を汝等に書贈るは、汝等が罪を犯さざらん為なり。然れど若罪を犯したる者あらば、我等は父の御前に辯護者を有せり。是即ち義者イエズス、キリストにして、 | My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: |
| 2 | 彼は我等が罪の贖にて在す、啻に我等の罪のみならず、全世界の罪に對しても亦然るなり。 | And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. |
| 3 | 我等御掟を守る時に、是によりて彼を識り奉れる事を覚る。 | And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. |
| 4 | 自ら彼を識り奉れりと言ひて御掟を守らざる人は、虚言者にして眞理其衷に在らず。 | He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. |
| 5 | 其御言を守る人には、神に對するの愛ありて完全なり。我等は是によりて、己の彼に在る事を覚る。 | But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. |
| 6 | 彼に止り奉ると言ふ人は、己も亦彼が歩み給ひし如くに歩まざるべからず。 | He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. |
| 7 | 至愛なる者よ、我が汝等に書贈るは新しき掟に非ず、汝等が初より受けたる古き掟にして、古き掟とは汝等の聞きし御言なり。 | Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. |
| 8 | 又新しき掟を汝等に書贈る。是は彼に於ても汝等に於ても等しく眞なり、其は暗黒過去りて眞の光既に照ればなり。 | Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. |
| 9 | 自ら光に在りと言ひて己が兄弟を憎む人は、今に至るまで暗黒の衷に居るなり。 | He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. |
| 10 | 己が兄弟を愛する人は、光に止まりて、彼には躓く所なし。 | He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. |
| 11 | 然れど己が兄弟を憎む人は、暗黒に在りて暗黒に歩み、暗黒の為に目を眩されたるが故に、往くべき所を知らざるなり。 | But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. |
| 12 | 小子よ、我が汝等に書贈るは、汝等の罪キリストの御名によりて赦されたるが故なり。 | I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. |
| 13 | 父等よ、我が汝等に書贈るは汝等が初より存し給へるものを識りたるが故なり。青年等よ、我が汝等に書贈るは、汝等が惡魔に勝ちたる故なり。 | I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. |
| 14 | 子兒等よ、我が汝等に書贈りしは、汝等が父を識り奉れる故なり。父等よ、我が汝等に書贈りしは、汝等が父を識り奉りたりし故なり。若き者よ、我が汝等に書贈りしは、汝等が強くして神の御言汝等の衷に止り、汝等惡魔に勝ちたる故なり。 | I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. |
| 15 | 世及び世に在る事を愛する勿れ、人若世を愛せば父に對する愛之に存する事なし、 | Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. |
| 16 | 其は総て世に在る事、肉の慾、目の慾、生活の誇は父より出でずして世より出づればなり。 | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. |
| 17 | 而して世も其慾も過去れど、神の御旨を行ふ人は限なく存するなり。 | And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. |
| 18 | 小子よ、末の時なり、曾て非キリスト來ると汝等の聞きし如く、今既に非キリストと成れるもの多し。我等は之によりて末の時なるを知る。 | Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. |
| 19 | 彼等は我等の中より出でたれど、素より我等のものたらざりき。若我等のものたりしならば、我等と共に止りしならん、然るに[斯の如くなるは]彼等が皆我等のものたらざる事の明に成らん為なり。 | They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. |
| 20 | 汝等は聖なるものより注油せられて、一切の事を識れり。 | But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. |
| 21 | 我が汝等に書贈りしは、眞理を知らざる者としてに非ず、之を知り、又偽は総て眞理より出でざる事を知れる人として書贈れるなり。 | I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. |
| 22 | 僞る者は誰ぞ、イエズスのキリストにて在す事を否める人に非ずや。御父及び御子を否める人、是こそは非キリストなれ。 | Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. |
| 23 | 総て御子を否める人は御父をも有し奉らず、御子を宣言する人は御父をも有し奉るなり。 | Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. |
| 24 | 願はくは汝等が初より聞きし所汝等の衷に止らん事を。若初より聞きし所汝等の衷に止らば、汝等も亦御子及び御父の衷に止り奉らん。 | Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. |
| 25 | 夫御子が自ら我等に約し給ひし約束は、即ち永遠の生命なり。 | And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. |
| 26 | 我汝等を惑はす人々に就きて是等の事を書贈りたれども、 | These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. |
| 27 | 汝等は彼より賜はりし注油其身に止りて、人に教へらるるを要せず、其注油は萬事に就きて汝等を教へ、而も眞にして偽に非ず、汝等其教へたる儘に之に止れ。 | But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. |
| 28 | 小子よ、卒主の衷に止り奉れ、然らば其顕れ給はん時、我等は憚る所なく、其降臨に於て彼より辱められじ。 | And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. |
| 29 | 汝等神が義にて在すことを識らば、又義を為す人の彼より生れ奉りしを辨へよ。 | If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. |
