| 1 | 我は眞の葡萄樹にして、我父は栽培者なり、 | I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. |
| 2 | 我に在る枝の果を結ばざる者は、父悉く之を伐去り、果を結ぶ者は、尚多く果を結ばしめん為に、悉く之を切透かし給ふべし。 | Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. |
| 3 | 我が汝等に語りたる言に由りて汝等は既に潔きなり。 | Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. |
| 4 | 我に止れ、我も亦汝等に止るべし。枝が葡萄樹に止るに非ずば自ら果を結ぶこと能はざる如く、汝等も我に止るに非ずば能はじ。 | Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. |
| 5 | 我は葡萄樹にして汝等は枝なり、我に止り我が之に止る人、是多くの果を結ぶ者なり、蓋我を離れては、汝等何事をも為す能はず。 | I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. |
| 6 | 人若我に止らずば枝の如く棄てられて枯れ、然て拾はれ、火に投入れられて焚けん。 | If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. |
| 7 | 汝等若我に止り、我言汝等に止らば、欲する所を願はんに叶へらるべし。 | If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. |
| 8 | 我父の據りて以て光榮を得給ふは、汝等が夥しき果を結びて我弟子と成らん事是なり。 | Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. |
| 9 | 父の我を愛し給へ如く、我も亦汝等を愛せり、汝等我愛に止れ。 | As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. |
| 10 | 若我命を守らば汝等我愛に止る事、我も我父の命を守りて其愛に止るが如くなるべし。 | If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. |
| 11 | 是等の事を汝等に語れるは、我喜汝等の衷に在りて、汝等が喜の全うせられん為なり。 | These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. |
| 12 | 汝等相愛すること、我が汝等を愛せしが如くせよ、是我命なり。 | This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. |
| 13 | 誰も其友の為に生命を棄つるより大いなる愛を有てる者はあらず。 | Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. |
| 14 | 汝等若我が命ずる所を行はば是我友なり。 | Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. |
| 15 | 我最早汝等を僕と呼ばじ、僕は其主の為す所を知らざればなり。然て我は汝等を友と呼べり、是総て我父より聞きし事を悉く汝等に知らせたればなり。 | Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. |
| 16 | 汝等が我を選みたるに非ず、我こそ汝等を選みて立てたるなれ、是汝等が往きて果を結び其果永く存して、我名によりて父に何事を願ふも、父が汝等に之を賜はん為なり。 | Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. |
| 17 | 我が斯く汝等に命ずるは、汝等が相愛せん為なり。 | These things I command you, that ye love one another. |
| 18 | 世若汝等を憎まば、汝等より先に我を憎めりと知れ。 | If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. |
| 19 | 汝等世のものなりしならば、世は己がものとして愛せしならん、然れども、世のものに非ずして、我が世より選出せる汝等なれば、世は汝等を憎むなり。 | If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. |
| 20 | 僕は其主より大いならず、と我が曾て汝等に語りしを記憶せよ、人我を迫害したれば、亦汝等をも迫害せん、我言を守りたれば、亦汝等の言をも守らん、 | Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. |
| 21 | 然れども此凡ての事は、彼等我名の為に之を汝等に為さん、是我を遣はし給ひし者を知らざる故なり。 | But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. |
| 22 | 若我が來りて彼等に告ぐる事なかりせば、彼等罪なかりしならん。然れど今は其罪を推諉くるに所なし。 | If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. |
| 23 | 我を憎む人は我父をも憎むなり、 | He that hateth me hateth my Father also. |
| 24 | 若我彼等の中に在りて、何人も曾て為さざりし業を行はざりせば、彼等罪なかりしならん。然れど今は現に之を眼前に見て而も我と我父とを憎みたるなり。 | If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. |
| 25 | 但し是彼等の律法に録して「彼等謂なく我を憎めり」とある言の成就せん為なり。 | But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. |
| 26 | 斯て父の許より我が遣はさんとする弁護者、即ち父より出づる眞理の霊來らば、我に就きて證明を為し給はん、 | But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: |
| 27 | 汝等も初より我に伴へるに由りて亦證明を為さん。 | And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning. |
