1 イエズス総て此談を畢り給ひて、弟子等に曰ひけるは、 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
2 汝等の知れる如く、二日の後は過越の祝行はれん。然て人の子は十字架に釘けられん為に付さるべし、と。 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
3 其時司祭長、民間の長老等、カイファと云へる司祭長の庭に集り、 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
4 詭りてイエズスを捕へて殺さんと謀りしが、 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.
5 云へらく、祝日には之を為すべからず、恐らくは騒動人民の中に起らん、と。 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.
6 然てイエズスベタニアにて、癩病者シモンの家に居給ひけるに、 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 或女値高き香油を盛りたる器を持ちてイエズスに近づき、食に就き居給へる頭に注ぎしが、 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
8 弟子等之を見て憤り、其費は何の為ぞ、 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?
9 是は高く売りて貧者に施すを得たりしものを、と云ひけるを、 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
10 イエズス知りて彼等に曰ひけるは、何ぞ此女を累はすや、彼は我に善行を為せり。 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
11 蓋貧者は常に汝等と共に居れども、我は常に居らず。 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
12 此女が此香油を我身に注ぎしは、我を葬らんとて為したるなり。 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
13 我誠に汝等に告ぐ、全世界何國にもあれ、此福音の宣傳へられん處には、此女の為しし事も、其記念として語らるるべし、と。 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
14 時に十二人の一人イスカリオテのユダと云へる者、司祭長等の許に往きて、 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
15 汝等我に何を與へんとするか、我汝等に彼を付さん、と云ひしに、彼等銀三十枚を約せしかば、 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16 ユダ此時よりイエズスを付さんとして、機を窺ひ居たり。 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
17 無酵麪の祝の日、弟子等イエズスに近づきて云ひけるは、我等が汝の為に備ふる過越の食事は何處ならん事を望み給ふか。 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18 イエズス曰ひけるは、汝等街に往き、某の許に至りて、師曰く、我時近づけり、我弟子と共に汝の家に過越を行はんとす、と云へと。 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
19 弟子等イエズスに命ぜられし如くにして、過越の備を為せり。 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
20 夕暮に及びて、イエズス十二弟子と共に食に就き給ひしが、 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
21 彼等の食しつつある程に曰ひけるは、我誠に汝等に告ぐ、汝等の中一人我を付さんとす、と。 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 彼等甚だ憂ひて、主よ、其は我なるかと、各云出でしに、 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?
23 イエズス答へて曰ひけるは、我と共に鉢に手を附くる者我を付さん。 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
24 抑人の子は、己に就きて録されたる如く逝くと雖、人の子を付す者は禍なる哉、生れざりしならば、寧彼に取りて善かりしものを、と。 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
25 イエズスを売りしユダ答へて、ラビ其は我なるか、と云ひしにイエズス、汝の云へるが如し、と曰へり。 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
26 一同晩餐しつつあるに、イエズス麪を取り、祝して之を擘き、弟子等に與へて曰ひけるは、汝等取りて食せよ、是我體なりと。 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27 又杯を取りて謝し、彼等に與へて曰ひけるは、汝等皆是より飲め。 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 是罪を赦されんとて衆人の為に流さるべき、新約の我血なり。 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
29 我汝等に告ぐ、我父の國にて共に汝等と共に新なるものを飲まん日までは、我今より此葡萄の液を飲まじ、と。 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
30 斯て賛美歌を誦へ畢り、皆橄欖山に出行きけるに、 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
31 イエズス曰ひけるは、今夜汝等皆我に就きて躓かん、其は録して「我牧者を撃たん、斯て群の羊散らん」とあればなり。 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32 然れど我蘇りて後、汝等に先ちてガリレアに往かん。 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 ペトロ答へて云ひけるは、假令人皆汝に就きて躓くとも、我は何時も躓かじ。 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
34 イエズス答へて曰ひけるは、我誠に汝に告ぐ、今夜鶏鳴く前に、汝三度我を否まん。 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 ペトロ云ひけるは、假令汝と共に死すべくとも、我汝を否まじと。弟子等皆同じ様に云へり。 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
36 斯てイエズス彼等と共にゲッセマニと云へる田家に至り、弟子等に向ひて、我が彼處に往きて祈る間汝等此處に坐せよ、と曰ひ、 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 ペテロとゼベデオの二人の子とを携へて、憂悲み出で給へり。 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38 然て彼等に曰ひけるは、我魂死ぬばかりに憂ふ、汝等此處に留まりて我と共に醒めて在れ、と。 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 然て少しく進み行き、平伏して祈りつつ曰ひけるは、我父よ、若能ふくば、此杯我より去れかし、然れど我意の儘にとには非ず思召の如くになれ、と。 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 斯て弟子等の許に至り、彼等の眠れるを見てペトロに曰ひけるは、斯も汝等、一時間を我と共に醒め居る能はざりしか、 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 誘惑に入らざらん為に醒めて祈れ、精神は逸れども肉身は弱し、と。 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42 再行きて祈り曰ひけるは、我父よ、此杯我之を飲まずして去る能はずば、思召成れかし、と。 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43 又再至りて彼等の眠れるを見給へり、蓋彼等の目疲れたるなり。 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44 又彼等を離れて行き、三度目に同じ言を唱へて祈り給ひしが、 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45 頓て弟子等に至りて曰ひけるは、今は早眠りて息め、すは時は近づけり、人の子罪人に付されんとす。 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 起きよ、行かん、看よ、我を付す者近づけり、と。 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
47 尚語り給へるに、折しも十二人の一人なるユダ來り、又司祭長民間の長老等より遣はされた大群衆、剣と棒とを持ちて是に伴へり。 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 イエズスを売りしもの彼等に合圖を與へて、我が接吻する所の人其なり、彼を捕へよ、と云ひしが、 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
49 直にイエズスに近づき、ラビ安かれ、と云ひて接吻せり。 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
50 イエズス彼に曰ひけるは、友よ、何の為に來れるぞ、と。時に人々近づきて、イエズスに手を掛けて之を捕へたり。 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
51 折しも、イエズスと共に在りし者の一人、手を伸べて剣を抜き、司祭長の僕を撃ちて其耳を斬落しかば、 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.
52 イエズス是に曰ひけるは、汝の剣を鞘に収めよ、其は総て剣を把る者は剣にて亡ぶべければなり。 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
53 我我父に求め得ずと思ふか、父は必直に十二隊にも餘れる天使を我に賜ふべし。 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 若然らば、斯あるべしと云へる聖書の言、争でか成就せん、と。 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
55 同時にイエズス群衆に曰ひけるは、汝等強盗に向ふ如く、剣と棒とを持ちて我を捕へに出來りしか、我日々[神]殿にて汝等の中に坐して教へ居りしに、汝等我を捕へざりき。 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
56 然れど、総て此事の成れるは預言者等の書の成就せん為なり、と。此時弟子等皆イエズスを舍きて遁去れり。 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
57 イエズスを捕へたる人々、既に律法學士長老等の相集り居たる、司祭長カイファの家に引行きしが、 And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 ペトロ遥にイエズスに從ひて司祭長の庭まで至り、事態を見んとて内に入り、僕等と共に坐し居たり。 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
59 司祭長等と凡ての議員とは、イエズスを死に處せんとて、是に對する僞證を求め、 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
60 許多の僞證人來りたれども猶之を得ざりしが、終に二人の僞證人來りて But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
61 云ひけるは、此人「我は神殿を毀ちて三日の後再之を建直す事を得」と云へり、と。 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
62 司祭長起ちてイエズスに向ひ、此人々の汝に對して證する所に、汝は何をも答へざるか、と云ひしも、 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
63 イエズス黙し居給へば、司祭長云ひけるは、我活ける神によりて汝に命ず、汝は神の子キリストなるか、我等に告げよ。 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
64 イエズス曰ひけるは、汝の云へるが如し、然れども我汝等に告ぐ、此後汝等、人の子が全能に坐す神の右に坐して、空の雲に乗り來るを見るべし、と。 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 此時、司祭長己が衣服を裂きて云ひけるは、彼冒涜の言を出せり。我等何ぞ尚證人を要せん、汝等今冒涜の言を聞きて Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
66 如何に思ふぞ、と。彼等答へて、其罪死に至る、と云へり。 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
67 是に於て下役等イエズスの御顔に唾し、拳にて打ち、或者は平手にて御顔を擲きて云ひけるは、 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
68 キリストよ、汝を批てる者の誰なるかを我等に預言せよ、と。 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
69 然てペトロ外にて庭に坐し居たるに、一人の下女是に近づき、汝もガリレアのイエズスと共に居りき、と云ひしかば、 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
70 彼衆人の前にて之を否み、我汝の云ふ所を知らず、と云へり。 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
71 門を出る時、又他の下女之を見て、居合す人々に向ひ、是もナザレトのイエズスと共に居りき、と云ひたるに、 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 彼又誓ひて、我彼人を知らず、と否めり。 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
73 暫時ありて、側なる人々近づきてペトロに云ひけるは、汝も確に彼等の一人なり、汝の方言までも汝を顕せり、と。 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
74 是に於て彼、其人を知らず、とて詛ひ且誓ひ始めしかば、忽ちにして鶏鳴けり。 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 斯てペトロ、イエズスが鶏鳴く前に汝三度我を否まんと曰ひし言を思出し、外に出でて甚く泣けり。 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
