| 1 | 我假令人間と天使との言語を語るとも、愛なければ鳴る鐘、響く鐃鈸の如くなりたるのみ。 | Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. |
| 2 | 我假令預言する事を得て、一切の奥義一切の學科を知り、又假令山を移す程なる一切の信仰を有すとも、愛なければ何物にも非ず。 | And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. |
| 3 | 我假令わが財産を悉く（貧者の食物として）分與へ、又我身を焼かるる為に付すとも、愛なければ聊も我に益ある事なし。 | And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. |
| 4 | 愛は堪忍し、情あり、愛は妬まず、自慢せず、驕らず、 | Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, |

| 6 | 不義を喜ばずして眞實を喜び、 | Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; |
| 7 | 何事をも包み、何事をも信じ、何事をも希望し、何事をも怺ふるなり。 | Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. |
| 8 | 預言は廃り、言語は止み、知識は亡ぶべきも、愛は何時も絶ゆる事なし。 | Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. |
| 9 | 蓋我等の知る事は不完全に、預言する事は不完全なれども、 | For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. |
| 10 | 完全なるところ來らば不完全なるところは廃らん。 | But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. |
| 11 | 我が小兒たりし時は、語る事も小兒の如く、判断する事も小兒の如く、考ふる事も小兒の如くなりしかど、大人となりては小兒の事を棄てたり。 | When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. |
| 12 | 今我等の見るは鏡を以てして朧なれども、彼時には顔と顔とを合せ、今我が知る所は不完全なれども、彼時には我が知らるるが如くに知るべし。 | For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. |
| 13 | 今存するものは信、望、愛此三なれども、就中最大いなるものは愛なり。 | And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. |
