| 1 | そこでヨブは答えて言った、 | But Job answered and said, |
| 2 | 「あなたは力のない者をどれほど助けたかしれない。気力のない腕をどれほど救ったかしれない。 | How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength? |
| 3 | 知恵のない者をどれほど教えたかしれない。悟りをどれほど多く示したかしれない。 | How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is? |
| 4 | あなたはだれの助けによって言葉をだしたのか。あなたから出たのはだれの霊なのか。 | To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee? |
| 5 | 亡霊は水およびその中に住むものの下に震う。 | Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof. |
| 6 | 神の前では陰府も裸である。滅びの穴もおおい隠すものはない。 | Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering. |
| 7 | 彼は北の天を空間に張り、地を何もない所に掛けられる。 | He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. |
| 8 | 彼は水を濃い雲の中に包まれるが、その下の雲は裂けない。 | He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them. |
| 9 | 彼は月のおもてをおおい隠して、雲をその上にのべ、 | He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it. |
| 10 | 水のおもてに円を描いて、光とやみとの境とされた。 | He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end. |
| 11 | 彼が戒めると、天の柱は震い、かつ驚く。 | The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof. |
| 12 | 彼はその力をもって海を静め、その知恵をもってラハブを打ち砕き、 | He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud. |
| 13 | その息をもって天を晴れわたらせ、その手をもって逃げるへびを突き通される。 | By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. |
| 14 | 見よ、これらはただ彼の道の端にすぎない。われわれが彼について聞く所はいかにかすかなささやきであろう。しかし、その力のとどろきに至っては、だれが悟ることができるか」。 | Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand? |
