| 1 | そこでナアマびとゾパルは答えて言った、 | Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said, |
| 2 | 「これによって、わたしは答えようとの思いを起し、これがために心中しきりに騒ぎ立つ。 | Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste. |
| 3 | わたしはわたしをはずかしめる非難を聞く、しかし、わたしの悟りの霊がわたしに答えさせる。 | I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer. |
| 4 | あなたはこの事を知らないのか、昔から地の上に人の置かれてよりこのかた、 | Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, |
| 5 | 悪しき人の勝ち誇はしばらくであって、神を信じない者の楽しみはただつかのまであることを。 | That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? |
| 6 | たといその高さが天に達し、その頭が雲におよんでも、 | Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds; |
| 7 | 彼はおのれの糞のように、とこしえに滅び、彼を見た者は言うであろう、『彼はどこにおるか』と。 | Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he? |
| 8 | 彼は夢のように飛び去って、再び見ることはない。彼は夜の幻のように追い払われるであろう。 | He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night. |
| 9 | 彼を見た目はかさねて彼を見ることがなく、彼のいた所も再び彼を見ることがなかろう。 | The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him. |
| 10 | その子らは貧しい者に恵みを求め、その手は彼の貨財を償うであろう。 | His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods. |
| 11 | その骨には若い力が満ちている、しかしそれは彼と共にちりに伏すであろう。 | His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust. |
| 12 | たとい悪は彼の口に甘く、これを舌の裏にかくし、 | Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue; |
| 13 | これを惜しんで捨てることなく、口の中に含んでいても、 | Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth: |
| 14 | その食物は彼の腹の中で変り、彼の内で毒蛇の毒となる。 | Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him. |
| 15 | 彼は貨財をのんでも、またそれを吐き出す、神がそれを彼の腹から押し出されるからだ。 | He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly. |
| 16 | 彼は毒蛇の毒を吸い、まむしの舌は彼を殺すであろう。 | He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him. |
| 17 | 彼は蜜と凝乳の流れる川々を見ることができない。 | He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter. |
| 18 | 彼はほねおって獲たものを返して、それを食うことができない。その商いによって得た利益をもって楽しむことができない。 | That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein. |
| 19 | 彼が貧しい者をしえたげ、これを捨てたからだ。彼は家を奪い取っても、それを建てることができない。 | Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not; |
| 20 | 彼の欲張りは足ることを知らぬゆえ、その楽しむ何物をも救うことができないであろう。 | Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. |
| 21 | 彼が残して食べなかった物とては一つもない。それゆえ、その繁栄はながく続かないであろう。 | There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. |
| 22 | その力の満ちている時、彼は窮境に陥り、悩みの手がことごとく彼の上に臨むであろう。 | In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him. |
| 23 | 彼がその腹を満たそうとすれば、神はその激しい怒りを送って、それを彼の上に降り注ぎ、彼の食物とされる。 | When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating. |
| 24 | 彼は鉄の武器を免れても、青銅の矢は彼を射通すであろう。 | He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through. |
| 25 | 彼がこれをその身から引き抜けば、きらめく矢じりがその肝から出てきて、恐れが彼の上に臨む。 | It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him. |
| 26 | もろもろの暗黒が彼の宝物のためにたくわえられ、人が吹き起したものでない火が彼を焼きつくし、その天幕に残っている者を滅ぼすであろう。 | All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle. |
| 27 | 天は彼の罪をあらわし、地は起って彼を攻めるであろう。 | The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him. |
| 28 | その家の財産は奪い去られ、神の怒りの日に消えうせるであろう。 | The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath. |
| 29 | これが悪しき人の神から受ける分、神によって定められた嗣業である」。 | This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God. |
