| 1 | そこでシュヒびとビルダデは答えて言った、 | Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, |
| 2 | 「あなたはいつまで言葉にわなを設けるのか。あなたはまず悟るがよい、それからわれわれは論じよう。 | How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak. |
| 3 | なぜ、われわれは獣のように思われるのか。なぜ、あなたの目に愚かな者と見えるのか。 | Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight? |
| 4 | 怒っておのが身を裂く者よ、あなたのために地は捨てられるだろうか。岩はその所から移されるだろうか。 | He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place? |
| 5 | 悪しき者の光は消え、その火の炎は光を放たず、 | Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. |
| 6 | その天幕のうちの光は暗く、彼の上のともしびは消える。 | The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him. |
| 7 | その力ある歩みはせばめられ、その計りごとは彼を倒す。 | The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down. |
| 8 | 彼は自分の足で網にかかり、また落し穴の上を歩む。 | For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare. |
| 9 | わなは彼のかかとを捕え、網わなは彼を捕える。 | The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him. |
| 10 | 輪なわは彼を捕えるために地に隠され、張り網は彼を捕えるために道に設けられる。 | The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way. |
| 11 | 恐ろしい事が四方にあって彼を恐れさせ、その歩みにしたがって彼を追う。 | Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet. |
| 12 | その力は飢え、災は彼をつまずかすために備わっている。 | His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side. |
| 13 | その皮膚は病によって食いつくされ、死のういごは彼の手足を食いつくす。 | It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength. |
| 14 | 彼はその頼む所の天幕から引き離されて、恐れの王のもとに追いやられる。 | His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors. |
| 15 | 彼に属さない者が彼の天幕に住み、硫黄が彼のすまいの上にまき散らされる。 | It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation. |
| 16 | 下ではその根が枯れ、上ではその枝が切られる。 | His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off. |
| 17 | 彼の形見は地から滅び、彼の名はちまたに消える。 | His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street. |
| 18 | 彼は光からやみに追いやられ、世の中から追い出される。 | He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world. |
| 19 | 彼はその民の中に子もなく、孫もなく、彼のすみかには、ひとりも生き残る者はない。 | He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings. |
| 20 | 西の者は彼の日について驚き、東の者はおじ恐れる。 | They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted. |
| 21 | まことに、悪しき者のすまいはこのようであり、神を知らない者の所はこのようである」。 | Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God. |
