| 2 | 言った、「わたしは悩みのうちから主に呼ばわると、主はわたしに答えられた。わたしが陰府の腹の中から叫ぶと、あなたはわたしの声を聞かれた。 | And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. |
| 3 | あなたはわたしを淵の中、海のまん中に投げ入れられた。大水はわたしをめぐり、あなたの波と大波は皆、わたしの上を越えて行った。 | For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. |

| 6 | わたしは地に下り、地の貫の木はいつもわたしの上にあった。しかしわが神、主よ、あなたはわが命を穴から救いあげられた。 | I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. |
| 7 | わが魂がわたしのうちに弱っているとき、わたしは主をおぼえ、わたしの祈はあなたに至り、あなたの聖なる宮に達した。 | When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. |
| 8 | むなしい偶像に心を寄せる者は、そのまことの忠節を捨てる。 | They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. |
| 9 | しかしわたしは感謝の声をもって、あなたに犠牲をささげ、わたしの誓いをはたす。救は主にある」。 | But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord. |
| 10 | 主は魚にお命じになったので、魚はヨナを陸に吐き出した。 | And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. |
