| 1 | 悪をなす者のゆえに、心を悩ますな。不義を行う者のゆえに、ねたみを起すな。 | Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. |
| 2 | 彼らはやがて草のように衰え、青菜のようにしおれるからである。 | For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. |
| 3 | 主に信頼して善を行え。そうすればあなたはこの国に住んで、安きを得る。 | Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. |
| 4 | 主によって喜びをなせ。主はあなたの心の願いをかなえられる。 | Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. |
| 5 | あなたの道を主にゆだねよ。主に信頼せよ、主はそれをなしとげ、 | Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. |
| 6 | あなたの義を光のように明らかにし、あなたの正しいことを真昼のように明らかにされる。 | And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. |
| 7 | 主の前にもだし、耐え忍びて主を待ち望め。おのが道を歩んで栄える者のゆえに、悪いはかりごとを遂げる人のゆえに、心を悩ますな。 | Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. |
| 8 | 怒りをやめ、憤りを捨てよ。心を悩ますな、これはただ悪を行うに至るのみだ。 | Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. |
| 9 | 悪を行う者は断ち滅ぼされ、主を待ち望む者は国を継ぐからである。 | For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. |
| 10 | 悪しき者はただしばらくで、うせ去る。あなたは彼の所をつぶさに尋ねても彼はいない。 | For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. |
| 11 | しかし柔和な者は国を継ぎ、豊かな繁栄をたのしむことができる。 | But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. |
| 12 | 悪しき者は正しい者にむかってはかりごとをめぐらし、これにむかって歯がみする。 | The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. |
| 13 | しかし主は悪しき者を笑われる、彼の日の来るのを見られるからである。 | The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. |
| 14 | 悪しき者はつるぎを抜き、弓を張って、貧しい者と乏しい者とを倒し、直く歩む者を殺そうとする。 | The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. |
| 15 | しかしそのつるぎはおのが胸を刺し、その弓は折られる。 | Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. |
| 16 | 正しい人の持ち物の少ないのは、多くの悪しきの者の豊かなのにまさる。 | A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. |
| 17 | 悪しき者の腕は折られるが、主は正しい者を助けささえられるからである。 | For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous. |
| 18 | 主は全き者のもろもろの日を知られる。彼らの嗣業はとこしえに続く。 | The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. |
| 19 | 彼らは災の時にも恥をこうむらず、ききんの日にも飽き足りる。 | They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. |
| 20 | しかし、悪しき者は滅び、主の敵は牧場の栄えの枯れるように消え、煙のように消えうせる。 | But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. |
| 21 | 悪しき者は物を借りて返すことをしない。しかし正しい人は寛大で、施し与える。 | The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. |
| 22 | 主に祝福された者は国を継ぎ、主にのろわれた者は断ち滅ぼされる。 | For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. |
| 23 | 人の歩みは主によって定められる。主はその行く道を喜ばれる。 | The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. |
| 24 | たといその人が倒れても、全く打ち伏せられることはない、主がその手を助けささえられるからである。 | Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. |
| 25 | わたしは、むかし年若かった時も、年老いた今も、正しい人が捨てられ、あるいはその子孫が食物を請いあるくのを見たことがない。 | I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. |
| 26 | 正しい人は常に寛大で、物を貸し与え、その子孫は祝福を得る。 | He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. |
| 27 | 悪をさけて、善を行え。そうすれば、あなたはとこしえに住むことができる。 | Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. |
| 28 | 主は公義を愛し、その聖徒を見捨てられないからである。正しい者はとこしえに助け守られる。しかし、悪しき者の子孫は断ち滅ぼされる。 | For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. |
| 29 | 正しい者は国を継ぎ、とこしえにその中に住むことができる。 | The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. |
| 30 | 正しい者の口は知恵を語り、その舌は公義を述べる。 | The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. |
| 31 | その心には神のおきてがあり、その歩みはすべることがない。 | The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. |
| 32 | 悪しき者は正しい人をうかがい、これを殺そうとはかる。 | The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. |
| 33 | 主は正しい人を悪しき者の手にゆだねられない、またさばかれる時、これを罪に定められることはない。 | The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. |
| 34 | 主を待ち望め、その道を守れ。そうすれば、主はあなたを上げて、国を継がせられる。あなたは悪しき者の断ち滅ぼされるのを見るであろう。 | Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. |
| 35 | わたしは悪しき者が勝ち誇って、レバノンの香柏のようにそびえたつのを見た。 | I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. |
| 36 | しかし、わたしが通り過ぎると、見よ、彼はいなかった。わたしは彼を尋ねたけれども見つからなかった。 | Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. |
| 37 | 全き人に目をそそぎ、直き人を見よ。おだやかな人には子孫がある。 | Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. |
| 38 | しかし罪を犯す者どもは共に滅ぼされ、悪しき者の子孫は断たれる。 | But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. |
| 39 | 正しい人の救は主から出る。主は彼らの悩みの時の避け所である。 | But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. |
| 40 | 主は彼らを助け、彼らを解き放ち、彼らを悪しき者どもから解き放って救われる。彼らは主に寄り頼むからである。 | And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him. |
