| 2 | 人々がわれらに逆らって立ちあがったとき、主がもしわれらの方におられなかったならば、 | If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: |
| 3 | 彼らの怒りがわれらにむかって燃えたったとき、彼らはわれらを生きているままで、のんだであろう。 | Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: |
| 4 | また大水はわれらを押し流し、激流はわれらの上を越え、 | Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: |
| 5 | さか巻く水はわれらの上を越えたであろう。 | Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. |
| 6 | 主はほむべきかな。主はわれらをえじきとして彼らの歯にわたされなかった。 | Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. |
| 7 | われらは野鳥を捕えるわなをのがれる鳥のようにのがれた。わなは破れてわれらはのがれた。 | Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. |
| 8 | われらの助けは天地を造られた主のみ名にある。 | Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. |
