| 1 | このように、あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのだから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが神の右に座しておられるのである。 | If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. |
| 2 | あなたがたは上にあるものを思うべきであって、地上のものに心を引かれてはならない。 | Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. |
| 3 | あなたがたはすでに死んだものであって、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストと共に神のうちに隠されているのである。 | For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. |
| 4 | わたしたちのいのちなるキリストが現れる時には、あなたがたも、キリストと共に栄光のうちに現れるであろう。 | When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. |
| 5 | だから、地上の肢体、すなわち、不品行、汚れ、情欲、悪欲、また貪欲を殺してしまいなさい。貪欲は偶像礼拝にほかならない。 | Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: |
| 6 | これらのことのために、神の怒りが下るのである。 | For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: |
| 7 | あなたがたも、以前これらのうちに日を過ごしていた時には、これらのことをして歩いていた。 | In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. |
| 8 | しかし今は、これらいっさいのことを捨て、怒り、憤り、悪意、そしり、口から出る恥ずべき言葉を、捨ててしまいなさい。 | But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. |
| 9 | 互にうそを言ってはならない。あなたがたは、古き人をその行いと一緒に脱ぎ捨て、 | Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; |
| 10 | 造り主のかたちに従って新しくされ、真の知識に至る新しき人を着たのである。 | And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: |
| 11 | そこには、もはやギリシヤ人とユダヤ人、割礼と無割礼、未開の人、スクテヤ人、奴隷、自由人の差別はない。キリストがすべてであり、すべてのもののうちにいますのである。 | Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. |
| 12 | だから、あなたがたは、神に選ばれた者、聖なる、愛されている者であるから、あわれみの心、慈愛、謙そん、柔和、寛容を身に着けなさい。 | Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; |
| 13 | 互に忍びあい、もし互に責むべきことがあれば、ゆるし合いなさい。主もあなたがたをゆるして下さったのだから、そのように、あなたがたもゆるし合いなさい。 | Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. |
| 14 | これらいっさいのものの上に、愛を加えなさい。愛は、すべてを完全に結ぶ帯である。 | And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. |
| 15 | キリストの平和が、あなたがたの心を支配するようにしなさい。あなたがたが召されて一体となったのは、このためでもある。いつも感謝していなさい。 | And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. |
| 16 | キリストの言葉を、あなたがたのうちに豊かに宿らせなさい。そして、知恵をつくして互に教えまた訓戒し、詩とさんびと霊の歌とによって、感謝して心から神をほめたたえなさい。 | Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. |
| 17 | そして、あなたのすることはすべて、言葉によるとわざによるとを問わず、いっさい主イエスの名によってなし、彼によって父なる神に感謝しなさい。 | And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. |
| 18 | 妻たる者よ、夫に仕えなさい。それが、主にある者にふさわしいことである。 | Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. |
| 19 | 夫たる者よ、妻を愛しなさい。つらくあたってはいけない。 | Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. |
| 20 | 子たる者よ、何事についても両親に従いなさい。これが主に喜ばれることである。 | Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. |
| 21 | 父たる者よ、子供をいらだたせてはいけない。心がいじけるかも知れないから。 | Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. |
| 22 | 僕たる者よ、何事についても、肉による主人に従いなさい。人にへつらおうとして、目先だけの勤めをするのではなく、真心をこめて主を恐れつつ、従いなさい。 | Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: |
| 23 | 何をするにも、人に対してではなく、主に対してするように、心から働きなさい。 | And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; |
| 24 | あなたがたが知っているとおり、あなたがたは御国をつぐことを、報いとして主から受けるであろう。あなたがたは、主キリストに仕えているのである。 | Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. |
| 25 | 不正を行う者は、自分の行った不正に対して報いを受けるであろう。それには差別扱いはない。 | But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. |
