| 1 | それゆえ，聖なる兄弟たち，天の召しにあずかっている人たちよ，わたしたちが告白する使徒また大祭司であるイエスのことをよく考えなさい。 | Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; |
| 2 | 彼は自分を任命した方に忠実であられました。モーセもその方の家全体にあってそうであったのと同じです。 | Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. |
| 3 | 彼はモーセよりも大きな栄光にふさわしいとみなされました。家を建てた人は家よりも大きな誉れを受けるからです。 | For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. |
| 4 | 家はすべてだれかによって造られますが，すべてのものを造られたのは神なのです。 | For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. |
| 5 | 確かにモーセはその方の家全体にあって召使いとして忠実でした。それは，将来語られる事柄について証言するためでした。 | And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; |
| 6 | しかし，キリストはその方の家を治めるみ子として忠実でした。わたしたちが確信と希望による誇りとを終わりまでしっかりと堅く保つなら，わたしたちこそその方の家なのです。 | But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. |
| 7 | それゆえ，聖霊が次のように言っているとおりです。 「今日，あなた方はその方の声を聞くなら， | Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, |
| 8 | 荒野での試練の日のように，自分たちの心をかたくなにして，挑発してはいけない。 | Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: |
| 9 | その場所であなた方の父祖たちは試みをもってわたしを試し，四十年間わたしの業を目にした。 | When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. |
| 10 | それでわたしはこの世代に腹を立ててこう言った，『彼らはいつもその心のうちに迷っている。彼らはわたしの道を知らなかった』。 | Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. |
| 11 | わたしは激しい怒りのうちに誓った，『彼らがわたしの安息に入ることはない』」。 | So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) |
| 12 | 兄弟たち，あなた方のうちのだれも，不信仰な悪い心を抱いて生ける神から離れることがないよう，用心しなさい。 | Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. |
| 13 | むしろ，「今日」と呼ばれている間じゅう，あなた方のうちのだれも罪の欺きによってかたくなになることのないよう，日ごとに互いに勧め合いなさい。 | But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. |
| 14 | というのは，初めの確信を終わりまでしっかりと堅く保つなら，わたしたちはキリストにあずかる者となっているのです。 | For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; |
| 15 | ただし，次のように言われている間のことです。 「今日，あなた方はその方の声を聞くなら，自分たちの心をかたくなにして，挑発してはいけない」。 | While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. |
| 16 | というのは，聞いていながら反逆したのはいったいだれでしたか。そうです，モーセによってエジプトから出て来たすべての者たちではありませんでしたか。 | For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. |
| 17 | その方が四十年間立腹されたのはだれに対してでしたか。罪を犯して，その死体が荒野に倒れた者たちではありませんでしたか。 | But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? |
| 18 | その方がご自分の安息に入らせないと誓われたのは，不従順な者たち以外のだれに対してでしたか。 | And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? |
| 19 | こうしてわたしたちは，彼らが入れなかったのは不信仰のゆえであったことに気づきます。 | So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. |
