| 1 | それゆえ，わたしたちは聞いた事柄にいっそう注意を払わなければなりません。そうでないと，わたしたちは押し流されてしまうかも知れません。 | Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. |
| 2 | というのは，み使いたちを通して語られた言葉が堅く保証され，すべての違反と不従順が当然の報いを受けたのであれば， | For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; |
| 3 | わたしたちは，これほど大きな救いをないがしろにした場合，どうして逃れることができるでしょうか。この救いは最初に主を通して語られ，聞いた人たちによってわたしたちのために確証され， | How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; |
| 4 | 神も，しるしと不思議，さまざまな力ある業，またご自分のご意志に従って聖霊の贈り物を分け与えることにより，彼らと共に証言されたのです。 | God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? |
| 5 | というのは，その方は，わたしたちが語っている来たるべき世を，み使いたちに服させることはされなかったからです。 | For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. |
| 6 | むしろ，ある人がある箇所で証言して，こう言っています。 「人間は何者なのですか，あなたがそれに思いを留められるとは。また，人の子は何者なのですか，あなたがそれを心にかけてくださるとは。 | But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? |
| 7 | あなたは彼をしばらくの間み使いたちよりも低い者とされ，彼に栄光と誉れを冠として与えられました。 | Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: |
| 8 | すべてのものを彼の足の下に服従させられました」。 その方は，すべてのものを彼に服させられたのですから，彼に服さないものは一つも残されなかったのです。それなのに，わたしたちはすべてのものが彼に服しているのをまだ見ていません。 | Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. |
| 9 | ただ，しばらくの間み使いたちよりも低くされた方であるイエスが，死の苦しみのゆえに，栄光と誉れを冠として与えられたのを見ています。それは，神の恵みによって，彼がすべての人のために死を味わわれるためでした。 | But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. |
| 10 | というのは，多くの子らを栄光に至らせるにあたって，彼らの救いの創始者を数々の苦しみを通して完成させることは，すべてのものがその方のために存在し，またすべてのものがその方を通して存在しているその方にふさわしいことであったのです。 | For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. |
| 11 | 実に，聖別する方も聖別される人たちも，みな一人の方から出ているからです。そのために彼は，彼らを兄弟たちと呼ぶことを恥とはされず， | For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, |
| 12 | こう言っておられます。 「わたしはあなたのみ名をわたしの兄弟たちに知らせます。会衆の中であなたの賛美を歌います」。 | Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. |
| 13 | また，「わたしはその方に信頼を置きます」。また，「見よ，わたしと，神がわたしに与えてくださった子供たちがここにいる」。 | And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. |
| 14 | それで，子供たちは肉と血とにあずかっているので，彼自身も同じようにその同じものを共にされました。それは，ご自分の死を通して，死の力を持つ者，すなわち悪魔を無に至らせ， | Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; |
| 15 | 死についての恐れのために生涯にわたって束縛を受けていた者たちを，みな解放するためでした。 | And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. |
| 16 | 確かに，彼はみ使いたちを助けるのではなく，アブラハムの子孫を助けてくださるからです。 | For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. |
| 17 | それで，彼はすべてのことにおいて自分の兄弟たちと同じようになる義務がありました。それは，民の罪をあがなうために，神に関わる事柄において恵み深い忠実な大祭司となるためでした。 | Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. |
| 18 | というのは，彼自身，誘惑に遭って苦しみを受けられたからこそ，誘惑に遭っている人たちを助けることができるのです。 | For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. |
