| 2 | 愛する者よ，あなたの魂が栄えているのと同じように，あなたがすべてのことにおいて栄え，また健康であるようにと祈っています。 | Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. |
| 3 | 兄弟たちが来て，あなたが真理のうちを歩んでいるとおりに，あなたの真実について証言してくれた時，わたしは大いに喜んだからです。 | For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. |
| 4 | わたしには，自分の子供たちが真理のうちを歩んでいると聞くこと以上に大きな喜びはありません。 | I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. |

| 10 | それで，わたしが行くなら，彼の業に注意を呼びかけようと思います。彼は悪意のある言葉でわたしたちを不当に非難し，そのことで満足せずに，自分が兄弟たちを受け入れず，そうしようとする者たちを禁じて，集会から追い出しています。 | Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. |
