| 1 | さて，過ぎ越しの祭りの前に，イエスはこの世から父のもとへ出発する自分の時が来たことを知り，世にいた自分の者たちを愛していたが，彼らを最後まで愛した。 | Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. |

| 5 | それから，たらいに水をくんで，弟子たちの足を洗い，身に巻いた手ぬぐいでふき始めた。 | After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. |
| 6 | やがて，シモン・ペトロのところに来た。ペトロは彼に言った，「主よ，わたしの足をお洗いになるのですか」。 | Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? |
| 7 | イエスは彼に言った，「あなたはわたしがしていることを今は分からないが，後で理解するだろう」 。 | Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. |
| 8 | ペトロはイエスに言った，「わたしの足を洗うことなど，決してなさらないでください！」 イエスは彼に言った，「わたしが洗わないなら，あなたはわたしと何の関係もない」 。 | Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. |

| 12 | そこで彼らの足を洗い，上着を身に着け，再び座ってから，彼らに言った，「わたしがあなた方にしたことが分かるか。 | So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? |
| 13 | あなた方はわたしを『先生』また『主』と呼ぶ。あなた方がそのように言うのは正しい。わたしはそのような者だからだ。 | Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. |
| 14 | それで，主また先生であるわたしがあなた方の足を洗ったのなら，あなた方も互いの足を洗い合うべきだ。 | If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. |
| 15 | わたしがあなた方に模範を与えたのは，あなた方が，わたしがあなた方にしたのと同じようにするためだからだ。 | For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. |
| 16 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。召使いはその主人より偉大ではなく，遣わされた者は自分を遣わした者より偉大ではない。 | Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. |
| 17 | あなた方がこれらの事を知っているなら，それを行なうとき，あなた方は幸いだ。 | If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. |
| 18 | わたしはあなた方全員に関して話しているのではない。わたしは自分の選んだ者を知っている。だがそれは，『わたしと共にパンを食べている者が，わたしに向かってかかとを上げた』という聖書が果たされるためなのだ。 | I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. |
| 19 | 今から，それが起きる前にあなた方に告げる。それが起きる時，わたしはあるということを信じるためだ。 | Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he. |
| 20 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。わたしが遣わす者を受け入れる者はわたしを受け入れるのであり，わたしを受け入れる者はわたしを遣わされた方を受け入れるのだ」 。 | Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. |
| 21 | イエスはこのことを言うと，霊において苦しみ，こう証言した。「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，あなた方のうちの一人がわたしを売り渡すだろう」 。 | When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. |

| 23 | 弟子の一人で，イエスが愛していた者が，イエスの胸にもたれて食卓に着いていた。 | Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. |
| 24 | それで，シモン・ペトロは彼に合図して言った，「だれについて話しておられるのか教えてくれ」。 | Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. |
| 25 | 彼はイエスの胸もとにもたれかかりながら尋ねた，「主よ，それはだれですか」。 | He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? |
| 26 | それでイエスは答えた，「わたしがこのパン切れを浸して与えるのがその者だ」 。そこで彼はパン切れを浸して，それをシモン・イスカリオトの子ユダに与えた。 | Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. |
| 27 | パン切れの後で，サタンが彼の中に入った。 その時イエスは彼に言った，「あなたのすることを早く行ないなさい」 。 | And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. |

| 29 | というのは，ある者たちは，ユダが金箱を持っていたので，イエスは彼に，「祭りのためにわたしたちが必要とする物を買いなさい」とか，貧しい人々に何かを与えるようになどと言ったのだと思っていたのである。 | For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. |
| 30 | それで，パン切れを受け取ると，彼はすぐに出て行った。夜のことであった。 | He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night. |
| 31 | 彼が出て行くと，イエスは言った，「今や，人の子は栄光を受け，神は彼において栄光を受けられた。 | Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. |
| 32 | 神が彼において栄光を受けられたのなら，神は彼にもご自身において栄光を与えられ，すぐに彼に栄光をお与えになる。 | If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him. |
| 33 | 小さな子供たちよ，わたしはもうしばらくの間あなた方と共にいる。あなた方はわたしを探すが，『わたしが行こうとしている所に，あなた方は来ることができない』とユダヤ人たちに言ったそのとおりに，わたしはあなた方にも告げる。 | Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. |
| 34 | わたしは新しいおきてをあなた方に与える。わたしがあなた方を愛したように，あなた方が互いを愛することだ。あなた方も互いに愛し合うためだ。 | A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. |
| 35 | あなた方が互いに対して愛を抱けば，これによってすべての人は，あなた方がわたしの弟子だということを知るだろう」 。 | By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. |
| 36 | シモン・ペトロはイエスに言った，「主よ，あなたはどこへ行こうとしておられるのですか」。 イエスは答えた，「わたしが行こうとしている所に，あなたは今は付いて来ることができないが，後で付いて来るだろう」 。 | Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards. |
| 37 | ペトロはイエスに言った，「主よ，なぜ今はあなたに付いて行けないのですか。わたしはあなたのために自分の命を捨てるつもりです」。 | Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake. |
| 38 | イエスは彼に答えた，「あなたはわたしのために自分の命を捨てるのか。本当にはっきりとあなたに告げる。あなたがわたしを三度否認するまで，おんどりは鳴かないだろう。 | Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice. |
