| 3 | 「霊において貧しい人たちは幸いだ，天の王国はその人たちのものだからだ。 | Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 4 | 嘆き悲しむ人たちは幸いだ，その人たちは慰められるからだ。 | Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. |
| 5 | 柔和な人たちは幸いだ，その人たちは地を受け継ぐからだ。 | Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. |
| 6 | 義に飢え渇く人たちは幸いだ，その人たちは満たされるからだ。 | Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. |
| 7 | あわれみ深い人たちは幸いだ，その人たちはあわれみを受けるからだ。 | Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. |
| 8 | 心の清い人たちは幸いだ，その人たちは神を見るからだ。 | Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. |
| 9 | 平和を造り出す人たちは幸いだ，その人たちは神の子供と呼ばれるからだ。 | Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. |
| 10 | 義のために迫害されてきた人たちは幸いだ，天の王国はその人たちのものだからだ。 | Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 11 | 「人々がわたしのゆえにあなた方を非難し，迫害し，あなた方に敵対してあらゆる悪いことを偽って言うとき，あなた方は幸いだ。 | Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. |
| 12 | 喜び，かつ喜び踊りなさい。天においてあなた方の報いは大きいからだ。人々はあなた方より前の預言者たちも同じように迫害したのだ。 | Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. |
| 13 | 「あなた方は地の塩だ。だが，塩がその風味を失うなら，何によって塩づけられるだろう。そうなると，もはや何の役にも立たず，外に投げ出されて人々の足の下で踏みつけられるだけだ。 | Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. |
| 14 | あなた方は世の光だ。丘の上にある町は隠れることができない。 | Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. |
| 15 | あなた方はともし火をともすと，量りかごの下ではなく，台の上に置く。そうすれば，それは家の中にいるすべての人に輝くのだ。 | Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. |
| 16 | このように，あなた方の光を人々の前で輝かせなさい。人々があなた方の良い行ないを見て，天におられるあなた方の父に栄光をささげるためだ。 | Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. |
| 17 | 「わたしが律法や預言者たちを破棄するために来たと考えてはいけない。破棄するためではなく，達成するために来たのだ。 | Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. |
| 18 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，天と地が過ぎ行くまでは，律法から最も小さな文字の一つやごく小さな字画の一つも決して過ぎ行くことがなく，すべての事柄が実現するのだ。 | For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. |
| 19 | だから，これらの最も小さなおきての一つを破り，そうするようにほかの人たちに教える者は，天の王国において最も小さな者と呼ばれるだろう。だが，そのおきてを行ない，またそうするようにほかの人たちに教える者は，天の王国において大きな者と呼ばれるだろう。 | Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. |
| 20 | あなた方に告げるが，あなた方の義が律法学者たちやファリサイ人たちのものにまさっていなければ，あなた方は決して天の王国に入ることはないからだ。 | For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
| 21 | 「古代の人々に対して，『あなたは殺してはならない』，そして，『殺す者は裁きを受けるだろう』と言われたのをあなた方は聞いた。 | Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: |
| 22 | だが，あなた方に告げるが，自分の兄弟に対して理由なく腹を立てる者はみな裁きを受ける。自分の兄弟に対して『ラカ！』と言う者は最高法院に引き渡され，『愚か者！』と言う者は燃えるゲヘナに投げ込まれる。 | But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. |
| 23 | 「だから，供え物を祭壇にささげようとして，兄弟が自分に対して何か恨み事を抱いていることをそこで思い出したなら， | Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; |
| 24 | あなたの供え物をそこ，祭壇の前に残しておいて，出かけて行きなさい。まず自分の兄弟と仲直りし，それから戻って来て，自分の供え物をささげなさい。 | Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. |
| 25 | あなたを訴える者とは，あなたが彼と共にその途上にある間に，急いで和解しなさい。その告訴人があなたを裁判官に引き渡し，裁判官があなたを役人に引き渡し，あなたがろうやに投げ込まれてしまうことのないためだ。 | Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. |
| 26 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。最後の小銭を払い切るまで，あなたは決してそこから出ることはないだろう。 | Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. |
| 27 | 「『あなたは姦淫を犯してはならない』と言われたのをあなた方は聞いた。 | Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: |
| 28 | だが，あなた方に告げるが，女を情欲を抱いて見つめる者はみな，心の中ですでにその女と姦淫を犯したのだ。 | But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. |
| 29 | もしあなたの右目があなたをつまずかせるなら，それをえぐり出して捨て去りなさい。あなたの肢体の一部が滅ぶほうが，あなたの全身がゲヘナに投げ込まれるよりは，あなたにとっては益になるのだ。 | And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. |
| 30 | もしあなたの右手があなたをつまずかせるなら，それを切り取って捨て去りなさい。あなたの肢体の一部が滅ぶほうが，あなたの全身がゲヘナに投げ込まれるよりは，あなたにとっては益になるのだ。 | And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. |
| 31 | 「また，『自分の妻を離縁する者は，彼女に離縁状を与えるように』と言われた。 | It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: |
| 32 | だが，あなた方に告げるが，淫行以外の理由で自分の妻を離縁する者は，彼女に姦淫を犯させるのであり，離縁された女と結婚する者は，姦淫を犯すのだ。 | But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. |
| 33 | 「古い時代の人々に対して，『あなたは偽りの誓いをしてはならず，主に対して自分の誓いを果たさなければならない』と言われたのをあなた方は聞いた。 | Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: |
| 34 | だが，あなた方に告げるが，いっさい誓うな。天にかけても誓うな。それは神のみ座だからだ。 | But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: |
| 35 | 地にかけても誓うな。それは神の足台だからだ。エルサレムにかけても誓うな。それは偉大な王の都だからだ。 | Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. |
| 36 | あなたの頭にかけても誓ってはならない。あなたは髪の毛一本さえ白くも黒くもできないからだ。 | Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. |
| 37 | そうではなく，あなた方の『はい』を『はい』に，『いいえ』を『いいえ』にならせなさい。これ以上のことは悪い者から出るのだ。 | But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. |
| 38 | 「『目には目，歯には歯』と言われたのをあなた方は聞いた。 | Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: |
| 39 | だが，あなた方に告げるが，悪い者に手向かうな。むしろ，あなたの右のほおを打つ者には，反対側をも向けなさい。 | But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. |
| 40 | だれかがあなたを訴えて上着を取ろうとするなら，外衣をも取らせなさい。 | And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. |
| 41 | あなたに強要して一マイル行かせようとする者とは，一緒に二マイル行きなさい。 | And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. |
| 42 | 求める者には与えなさい。そして，借りたいと望む者には背を向けてはいけない。 | Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. |
| 43 | 「『あなたは隣人を愛し，敵を憎まなければならない』と言われたのをあなた方は聞いた。 | Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. |
| 44 | だが，あなた方に告げるが，敵を愛し，のろう者を祝福し，虐待し迫害する者たちのために祈りなさい。 | But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; |
| 45 | あなた方が，天におられるあなた方の父の子供となるためだ。その方は，悪い者の上にも善い者の上にもご自分の太陽を昇らせ，正しい者の上にも正しくない者の上にも雨を降らせてくださるからだ。 | That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. |
| 46 | 自分を愛してくれる者たちを愛したからといって，あなた方に何の報いがあるだろうか。徴税人たちも同じことをしているではないか。 | For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? |
| 47 | 自分の友人たちだけにあいさつしたからといって，あなた方は何の優れたことをしているのか。徴税人たちも同じことをしているではないか。 | And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? |
| 48 | だから，あなた方の天の父が完全であられるように，あなた方も完全でありなさい。 | Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. |
