| 2 | 彼らに言った，「向こうの村に行きなさい。するとすぐに，ロバがつないであり，一緒に子ロバがいるのを見つけるだろう。それらを解いて，わたしのところに連れて来なさい。 | Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. |
| 3 | もしだれかがあなた方に何か言うなら，『主がこれを必要としているのです』と言いなさい。そうすれば，その人はすぐに行かせてくれるだろう」。 | And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. |
| 4 | このことすべてが起こったのは，預言者を通して語られたことが果たされるためであった。こう言われていた。 | All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, |
| 5 | 「シオンの娘に告げよ，見よ，あなたの王があなたのところにやって来る，謙そんで，ロバに乗って，ロバの子である子ロバに乗って』。 | Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. |
| 6 | 弟子たちは出て行き，イエスが彼らに命じたとおりに行なった。 | And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, |
| 7 | そして，ロバと子ロバを連れて来て，その上に自分たちの外衣をかけた。すると彼はそれらに乗った。 | And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. |
| 8 | おびただしい大群衆が自分たちの衣を道に敷いた。ほかの者たちは木から枝を切り落として来て街道に敷いた。 | And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. |
| 9 | 群衆は，先に行く者も付いて行く者も，こう叫び続けた。「ダビデの子にホサンナ！ 主の名において来る者は幸いだ！ いと高き所にホサンナ！」 | And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. |
| 10 | 彼がエルサレムに入ると，都全体が騒ぎ立ち，「この人はだれだ」と言った。 | And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? |
| 11 | 群衆は言った，「これは，ガリラヤのナザレから来た預言者イエスだ」。 | And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. |
| 12 | イエスは神殿に入り，神殿で売り買いしていた者たちをみな追い出し，両替人たちの台とハトを売る者たちの腰掛けをひっくり返した。 | And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, |
| 13 | 彼らに言った，「『わたしの家は祈りの家と呼ばれるだろう』と書いてある。それなのにあなた方は，それを強盗たちの巣にしてしまった！」 | And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. |
| 14 | 神殿で，目の見えない人たちや足の不自由な人たちが近寄って来たので，彼らをいやした。 | And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. |
| 15 | しかし，祭司長たちと律法学者たちは，彼が行なった驚くべき事柄を見，また子供たちが神殿で叫んで，「ダビデの子にホサンナ！」と言っているのを見て憤慨し， | And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased, |
| 16 | 彼に言った，「これらの者たちが言っていることが聞こえるか」。 イエスは彼らに言った，「聞こえる。あなた方は，『赤子や乳飲み子の口から，あなたは賛美を備えられた』とあるのを読んだことがないのか」 。 | And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? |
| 17 | 彼らを残して，都を出てベタニアに行き，そこで夜を過ごした。 | And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there. |
| 18 | さて，朝早く都に戻るとき，空腹を感じた。 | Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. |
| 19 | 道ばたにイチジクの木があるのを見て，そこに行ったが，その木には葉のほかには何も見つからなかった。その木に言った，「もうお前からは永久に実が出ないように！」 すぐにそのイチジクの木は枯れた。 | And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. |
| 20 | 弟子たちはこれを見て驚き，「どうしてこのイチジクの木はすぐに枯れたのですか」と言った。 | And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! |
| 21 | イエスは彼らに答えた，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。もしあなた方に信仰があって疑わないなら，このイチジクの木に生じたことができるだけでなく，この山に『持ち上げられて海の中に投げ込まれるように』と言えば，それは起きるだろう。 | Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. |
| 22 | 祈りの中で信じつつ求めるすべてのものを，あなた方は受けるだろう」 。 | And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. |
| 23 | 彼が神殿に入ると，祭司長たちと民の長老たちが，彼の教えているところにやって来てこう言った。「あなたは何の権威によってこうした事をするのか。だれがその権威をあなたに与えたのか」。 | And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? |
| 24 | イエスは彼らに答えた，「わたしもあなた方に一つのことを尋ねよう。あなた方がわたしに告げるなら，わたしも何の権威によってこうした事をするのかをあなた方に告げよう。 | And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. |
| 25 | ヨハネのバプテスマはどこからのものだったか。天からか，それとも人からか」 。 彼らは互いに論じ合って言った，「我々が『天から』と言えば，彼は『あなた方が彼を信じなかったのはなぜか』と言うだろう。 | The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? |
| 26 | 我々が『人から』と言えば，我々は群衆が怖い。みんながヨハネは預言者だと考えているからだ」。 | But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. |
| 27 | 彼らはイエスに答えて言った，「わたしたちは知らない」。 イエスも彼らに言った，「わたしも，何の権威によってこうした事をするのかをあなた方に告げない。 | And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. |
| 28 | ところで，あなた方はどう思うか。ある人に二人の息子がいた。そして，兄のところに行って，『子よ，今日，わたしのブドウ園に行って働きなさい』と言った。 | But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. |
| 29 | 彼は『行きません』と答えたが，後で思い直して出かけて行った。 | He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. |
| 30 | 弟のところに来て，同じことを言った。彼は『お父様，参ります』と答えたが，行かなかった。 | And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. |
| 31 | この二人のうち，どちらが自分の父の意志を行なったか」 。 彼らは彼に言った，「兄のほうだ」。 イエスは彼らに言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，徴税人たちや売春婦たちのほうが，あなた方より先に神の王国に入りつつある。 | Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. |
| 32 | ヨハネは義の道をもってあなた方のところに来たのに，あなた方は彼を信じず，徴税人たちや売春婦たちが彼を信じたからだ。あなた方はそれを見ながら，後で悔い改めて彼を信じようとさえしなかった。 | For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. |
| 33 | 「別のたとえを聞きなさい。家の主人がいた。彼はブドウ園を造り，その周りに垣根を巡らし，ブドウ搾り場を掘り，塔を建て，それを耕作人たちに貸して，外国に出かけた。 | Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: |
| 34 | 実りの季節が近づくと，彼は自分の召使いたちを耕作人たちのところに送って，自分の実りを受け取ろうとした。 | And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. |
| 35 | 耕作人たちは彼の召使いたちを捕まえ，ある者を打ちたたき，別の者を殺し，別の者を石打ちにした。 | And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. |
| 36 | 彼は再び，ほかの召使いたちを最初よりたくさん送ったが，耕作人たちは彼らも同じように扱った。 | Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. |
| 37 | それでも最後に，『わたしの息子なら敬うだろう』と言って，彼は自分の息子を送った。 | But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. |
| 38 | ところが耕作人たちは，その息子を見て，互いに言った，『これは相続人だ。さあ，こいつを殺そう。そうすれば，その相続財産が手に入る』。 | But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. |
| 39 | そこで彼らは彼を捕まえ，そのブドウ園の外に投げ出して殺した。 | And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. |
| 40 | それで，ブドウ園の主人がやって来たとき，これらの耕作人たちをどうするだろうか」 。 | When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? |
| 41 | 彼らは彼に告げた，「それら卑しい者たちをみじめな仕方で滅ぼし，季節ごとに実りを収めるほかの耕作人たちにそのブドウ園を貸し出すだろう」。 | They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. |
| 42 | イエスは彼らに言った，「あなた方は聖書の中で読んだことがないのか。 『建てる者たちが退けた石，それが隅の親石となった。これは主から生じたことで，わたしたちの目には不思議なことだ』。 | Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? |
| 43 | 「だから，あなた方に告げる。神の王国はあなた方から取り上げられ，その実を結ぶ民族に与えられる。 | Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. |
| 44 | この石の上に落ちる者は粉々に砕かれ，その石がだれかの上に落ちれば，それはその者をみじんに砕くだろう」 。 | And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. |
| 45 | 祭司長たちとファリサイ人たちは，彼のたとえを聞いた時，彼が自分たちについて話していることに気づいた。 | And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. |
| 46 | 彼らは彼を捕まえようとしたが，群衆を恐れた。群衆は彼を預言者だと考えていたからである。 | But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. |
