1 イエスはこれらの言葉を語り終えると，ガリラヤを去って，ヨルダンの向こうのユダヤ地方に入った。 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea beyond Jordan;
2 大群衆が彼に従った。そこで彼はその場所で彼らをいやした。 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
3 ファリサイ人たちがやって来て，彼を試そうとして言った，「どんな理由でも，男が自分の妻を離縁することは許されているのですか」。 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
4 彼は答えた，「あなた方は読んだことがないのか。人を造られた方は，はじめから彼らを男性と女性に造られ， And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 そして，『このために，男は自分の父と母を離れて，自分の妻と結び付く。こうして二人は一体となる』と言われたのを。 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
6 それで，彼らはもはや二つではなく，一体なのだ。だから，神が結び合わされたものを，人が引き離してはいけない」 。 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
7 彼らは彼に尋ねた，「それでは，なぜモーセは，離縁状を与えて妻を離縁することをわたしたちに命じたのですか」。 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
8 彼は彼らに言った，「モーセは，あなた方の心のかたくなさのゆえに，あなた方が自分の妻を離縁することを容認したのであって，はじめからそうだったわけではない。 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
9 あなた方に告げるが，淫行以外の理由で自分の妻を離縁して別の女と結婚する者は，姦淫を犯すのであり，離縁された女と結婚する者は，姦淫を犯すのだ」 。 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
10 弟子たちは彼に言った，「妻についての男の実情がそのようなものであれば，結婚するのはうまいことではありません」。 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
11 しかし彼は彼らに言った，「すべての人がこの言葉を受け入れることができるわけではなく，授けられている人たちだけがそうできる。 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
12 母の胎からそのように生まれついた去勢者がおり，人に去勢させられた去勢者がおり，天の王国のために自分を去勢した去勢者がいるからだ。それを受け入れることができる者は，受け入れなさい」 。 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
13 その時，その上に両手を置いて祈ってもらおうとして，幼子たちが彼のもとに連れて来られたが，弟子たちは彼らをしかりつけた。 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 しかしイエスは言った，「幼子たちをそのままにしておきなさい。彼らがわたしのところに来るのをとどめてはいけない。天の王国はこのような者たちのものだからだ」 。 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 両手を彼らの上に置いてから，そこを去って行った。 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
16 見よ，ある人が彼に近寄って来て言った，「善い先生，永遠の命を得るためには，どんな善いことをしたらよいでしょうか」。 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 イエスは彼に言った，「なぜ，わたしのことを善いと呼ぶのか。神おひとりのほかに善い者はいない。だが，命に入りたいなら，おきてを守りなさい」 。 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 彼はイエスに言った，「どのおきてですか」。 イエスは言った，「『あなたは殺してはならない』，『あなたは姦淫を犯してはならない』，『あなたは盗んではならない』，『あなたは偽りの証言をしてはならない』， He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19 『あなたの父と母を敬いなさい』，そして，『あなたは隣人を自分自身のように愛さなければならない』」 。 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20 その若者はイエスに言った，「わたしはそうした事すべてを幼いころから守ってきました。まだ何が足りないのでしょうか」。 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 イエスは彼に言った，「もしあなたが完全でありたいと思うなら，行って，持ち物を売り，貧しい人たちに与えなさい。そうすれば，天に宝を持つことになる。それから来て，わたしに従いなさい」 。 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 しかし，この言葉を聞くと，その若者は悲しそうに去って行った。多くの資産を持っていたからである。 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 イエスは弟子たちに言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に言う。富んだ人が天の王国に入るのは難しいことだ。 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 重ねて，あなた方に告げる。富んだ人が神の王国に入るよりは，ラクダが針の穴を通り抜ける方が易しいのだ」 。 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 これを聞いて，弟子たちは非常に驚いて言った，「いったいだれが救いを得られるのだろう」。 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 イエスは彼らを見つめて言った，「人には不可能だが，神にはすべての事が可能だ」 。 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
27 その時，ペトロが彼に答えた，「ご覧ください，わたしたちは何もかも後にして，あなたに従いました。それで，わたしたちは何を持つことになるのでしょうか」。 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
28 イエスは彼らに言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，再生の際，人の子が自分の栄光の座に着くときには，わたしに従ってきたあなた方も十二の座に着き，イスラエルの十二部族を裁くだろう。 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 わたしの名のために，家々，兄弟たち，姉妹たち，父，母，妻，子供たち，あるいは畑を後にする者は，その百倍を受け，また永遠の命を受け継ぐことになる。 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
30 だが，多くの最初の者が最後に，最後の者が最初になるだろう。 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
