| 3 | 彼がベタニアでらい病の人シモンの家にいた時，食卓に着いていると，一人の女が，非常に高価な純正のナルド香油の入った雪花石こうのつぼを持ってやって来た。つぼを砕き，それを彼の頭に注いだ。 | And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. |
| 4 | しかし，互いに憤慨した者が数人いて，こう言った。「なぜその香油を無駄にしたのか。 | And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? |
| 5 | この香油なら三百デナリ以上で売れたし，そうすれば貧しい人々に施すことができたのに」。彼らはその女に対して不平を言った。 | For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. |
| 6 | しかしイエスは言った，「彼女をそのままにしておきなさい。なぜあなた方は彼女を悩ませるのか。彼女はわたしに良い行ないをしてくれたのだ。 | And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. |
| 7 | あなた方には，貧しい人々はいつでも一緒にいて，いつでも望む時に彼らに良いことができる。だが，わたしはいつでもいるわけではないからだ。 | For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. |
| 8 | 彼女は自分にできることをした。埋葬に備えてわたしの体に前もって油を塗ってくれたのだ。 | She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. |
| 9 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。世界中どこでも，この福音が宣教される所では，この女の行なったこともまた，彼女の記念として語られるだろう」 。 | Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. |

| 13 | 彼は弟子たちのうちの二人を遣わして，彼らに言った，「市内に入りなさい。するとあなた方は水がめを運んでいる男に出会うだろう。その人に付いて行きなさい。 | And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. |
| 14 | そして，彼が入っていく所で，その家の主人にこう言いなさい。『先生が，「わたしが弟子たちと共に過ぎ越しの食事をする客室はどこか」と言っています』。 | And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? |
| 15 | 彼はあなた方に，席が備えられて用意のできている大きな階上の部屋を見せてくれるだろう。その場所でわたしたちのために用意をしなさい」 。 | And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. |
| 16 | 弟子たちは出て行って，市内に入り，彼が自分たちに言ったとおりのことを見いだした。それで彼らは過ぎ越しの用意をした。 | And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. |
| 17 | 夕方になった時，彼は十二人と一緒にやって来た。 | And in the evening he cometh with the twelve. |
| 18 | 彼らが席に着いて食事をしていると，イエスは言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。あなた方の一人で，わたしと一緒に食事をしている者が，わたしを売り渡すだろう」 。 | And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me. |
| 19 | 彼らは悲しみ始め，一人ずつ彼に「まさかわたしではないでしょうね」と尋ね始めた。そして互いに「まさかわたしではないだろうな」と言い合った。 | And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? |
| 20 | 彼は彼らに答えた，「それは十二人の一人で，わたしと共に食べ物を鉢に浸している者だ。 | And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish. |
| 21 | 人の子は自分について書いてあるとおりに去って行くからだ。だが，人の子を売り渡すその者は災いだ！ 生まれて来なかった方が，その者のためには良かっただろう」 。 | The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born. |
| 22 | 彼らが食事をしていると，イエスはパンを取り，祝福してからそれを裂き，彼らに与えてこう言った。「取って，食べなさい。これはわたしの体だ」 。 | And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. |
| 23 | 杯を取り，感謝をささげてから，彼らに与えた。彼らは皆その杯から飲んだ。 | And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. |
| 24 | 彼は彼らに言った，「これは新しい契約のためのわたしの血だ。それは多くの人のために注ぎ出されるのだ。 | And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. |
| 25 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。神の王国においてそれを新たに飲むその日まで，わたしはもはやブドウの木の産物を飲むことはない」 。 | Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God. |
| 26 | 賛美の歌を歌ってから，彼らはオリーブ山へと出て行った。 | And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. |
| 27 | イエスは彼らに言った，「今夜，あなた方全員がわたしのためにつまずくだろう。『わたしは羊飼いを打つ。すると羊は散らされるだろう』と書いてあるからだ。 | And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. |
| 28 | だが，わたしは起こされた後，あなた方より先にガリラヤに行くだろう」 。 | But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. |
| 29 | しかしペトロは彼に言った，「みんなが背いても，わたしは背きません」。 | But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. |
| 30 | イエスは彼に言った，「本当にはっきりとあなたに告げる。今日，それも今夜，おんどりが二度鳴く前に，あなたは三度わたしを否認するだろう」 。 | And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. |
| 31 | しかし彼はますます言い立てた，「あなたと一緒に死ななければならないとしても，わたしはあなたを否認しません」。彼らは皆，同じ事を言った。 | But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all. |
| 32 | 彼らはゲツセマネという名の場所にやって来た。彼は弟子たちに言った，「わたしが祈っている間，ここに座っていなさい」 。 | And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. |
| 33 | 彼はペトロとヤコブとヨハネを伴って行ったが，ひどく心配し，苦悩し始めた。 | And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; |
| 34 | 彼らに言った，「わたしの魂は死ぬほどに深く悲しんでいる。ここにとどまって，見張っていなさい」 。 | And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. |
| 35 | 少し進んで行って地面にひれ伏し，もしできることなら，その時が自分から過ぎ去るようにと祈った。 | And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. |
| 36 | 彼は言った，「アッバ，父よ，あなたにはすべてのことがおできになります。この杯をわたしから取り除いてください。それでも，わたしの望むことではなく，あなたの望まれることを」 。 | And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. |
| 37 | やって来て，彼らが眠っているのを見つけて，ペトロに言った，「シモンよ，眠っているのか。一時間も見張っていられなかったのか。 | And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? |
| 38 | あなた方は誘惑に陥らないよう，見張って，祈っていなさい。霊はその気でも，肉体は弱いのだ」 。 | Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. |
| 39 | 再び離れて行き，同じ言葉で祈った。 | And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words. |
| 40 | もう一度戻って来て，彼らが眠っているのを見つけた。彼らの目は非常に重くなっていたのである。そして彼らは，彼に何と答えたらよいか分からなかった。 | And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him. |
| 41 | 彼は三度目にやって来て，彼らに言った，「なお眠って，休息をとりなさい。もう十分だ。時が来た。見よ，人の子は罪人たちの手に売り渡される。 | And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. |
| 42 | 立ちなさい，さあ行こう。見よ，わたしを売り渡す者が近づいて来た」 。 | Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand. |
| 43 | すぐに，彼がまだ話しているうちに，十二人の一人のユダがやって来た。そして彼と共に，祭司長たちと律法学者たちと長老たちのもとから来た群衆が，剣やこん棒を手にしてやって来た。 | And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. |
| 44 | さて，イエスを売り渡した者は，「わたしが口づけするのがその者だ。それを捕まえて，しっかりと引いて行け」と言って，彼らに合図を伝えていた。 | And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. |
| 45 | やって来ると，すぐにイエスに近寄り，「ラビ！ ラビ！」と言って，口づけした。 | And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him. |
| 46 | 彼らはイエスに手をかけて捕まえた。 | And they laid their hands on him, and took him. |
| 47 | しかし，立っていた者の一人が剣を抜いて，大祭司の召使いに撃ちかかり，その片耳を切り落とした。 | And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. |
| 48 | イエスは彼らに答えた，「あなた方は強盗に対するかのように，剣とこん棒を持ってわたしを捕まえに出て来たのか。 | And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me? |
| 49 | わたしは毎日あなた方と一緒に神殿にいて教えていたのに，あなた方はわたしを逮捕しなかった。だが，これは聖句が果たされるためなのだ」 。 | I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled. |
| 50 | 弟子たちは皆，彼を残して逃げて行った。 | And they all forsook him, and fled. |
| 51 | ある若者が，裸の体に亜麻布をまとって，イエスに付いて行った。若者たちは彼を捕まえようとしたが， | And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: |
| 52 | 彼は亜麻布を残して，裸のままで逃げて行った。 | And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked. |
| 53 | 彼らはイエスを大祭司のところに引いて行った。祭司長たちと長老たちと律法学者たち全員が集まって来た。 | And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. |
| 54 | ペトロは遠くからイエスに付いて行き，ついに大祭司の中庭に入った。彼は役人たちと共に座っており，たき火で身を暖めていた。 | And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. |
| 55 | さて，祭司長たちと最高法院全体は，イエスを死に渡すため，彼に不利な証言を探していたが，何も見つからなかった。 | And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. |
| 56 | 大勢の者が彼に対して偽りの証言をしたが，それらの証言は互いどうし一致しなかったのである。 | For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. |
| 57 | ある者たちが立ち上がり，彼に対して偽りの証言をして，こう言った。 | And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, |
| 58 | 「わたしたちは，この者が『わたしは手で造ったこの神殿を壊し，手で造られたのではない別のものを三日で建てる』と言うのを聞きました」。 | We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. |
| 59 | そのようにしても，彼らの証言は一致しなかった。 | But neither so did their witness agree together. |
| 60 | 大祭司が真ん中に立ってイエスに尋ねた，「何も答えないのか。これらの者たちがしているお前に不利な証言は何なのだ」。 | And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? |
| 61 | しかし彼は黙ったままで，何も答えなかった。再び大祭司は彼に尋ねた，「お前はほめたたえるべき方の子，キリストか」。 | But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? |
| 62 | イエスは言った，「わたしはある。あなた方は人の子が力ある方の右に座り，天の雲と共に来るのを見るだろう」 。 | And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. |
| 63 | 大祭司は自分の衣を引き裂いてこう言った。「どうしてこれ以上証人が必要だろうか。 | Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? |
| 64 | あなた方は冒とくの言葉を聞いたのだ！ あなた方はどう思うか」。みんなは彼を死に値するものと決定した。 | Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. |
| 65 | ある者たちは彼につばをかけ，顔を覆ってこぶしで殴り，「預言しろ！」と言い始めた。役人たちも彼を平手で打った。 | And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands. |
| 66 | ペトロが下の中庭にいると，大祭司の女中の一人がやって来て， | And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: |
| 67 | ペトロが身を暖めているのを見ると，彼を見つめてこう言った。「あなたもナザレ人イエスと一緒にいました！」 | And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. |
| 68 | しかし彼はそれを否定して言った，「わたしは知らないし，あなたが何のことを言っているのか分からない」。彼は入り口の方に出て行った。するとおんどりが鳴いた。 | But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. |
| 69 | その女中は彼を見て，そばに立っている者たちに再びこう言い始めた。「この人は彼らの一人です」。 | And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. |
| 70 | しかし彼は再びそれを否定した。しばらくして，そばに立っている者たちが再びペトロに言った，「確かにあなたは彼らの一人だ。あなたはガリラヤ人で，方言がそれを明かしているからだ」。 | And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. |
| 71 | しかし彼はのろったり誓ったりし始めて言った，「わたしはあなた方の話しているその人を知らないのだ！」 | But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. |
| 72 | おんどりが二度目に鳴いた。ペトロは，「おんどりが二度鳴く前に，あなたは三度わたしを否認するだろう」 とイエスが自分に言った言葉を思い出した。それに思い当たった時，彼は泣き悲しんだ。 | And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. |
