| 1 | 神むかしは預言者 等により、多くに分ち、多くの方法をもて先祖たちに語り給ひしが、 | God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, |
| 2 | この末の世には御子によりて、我らに語り給へり。神は曾て御子を立てて萬の物の世嗣となし、また御子によりて諸般の世界を造り給へり。 | Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; |
| 3 | 御子は神の榮光のかがやき、神の本質の像にして、己が權能の言をもて萬の物を保ちたまふ。また罪の潔をなして、高き處にある稜威の右に坐し給へり。 | Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; |
| 4 | その受け給ひし名の御使の名に勝れるごとく、御使よりは更に勝る者となり給へり。 | Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. |
| 5 | 神は孰の御使に曾て斯くは言ひ給ひしぞ『なんぢは我が子なり、われ今日なんぢを生めり』と。また『われ彼の父となり、彼わが子とならん』と。 | For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? |
| 6 | また初子を再び世に入れ給ふとき『神の凡ての使は之を拜すべし』と言ひ給ふ。 | And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. |
| 7 | また御使たちに就きては『神は、その使たちを風となし、その事ふる者を焔となす』と言ひ給ふ。 | And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. |
| 8 | されど御子に就きては『神よ、なんじの御座は世々 限りなく、汝の國の杖は正しき杖なり。 | But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. |
| 9 | なんぢは義を愛し、不法をにくむ。この故に神なんぢの神は歡喜の油を、汝の友に勝りて汝にそそぎ給へり』と。 | Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. |
| 10 | また『主よ、なんぢ太初に地の基を置きたまへり、天も御手の業なり。 | And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: |
| 11 | これらは滅びん、されど汝は常に存へたまはん。これらはみな衣のごとく舊びん。 | They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; |
| 12 | 而して汝これらを袍のごとく疊み給はん、これらは衣のごとく變らん。されど汝はかはり給ふことなく汝の齡は終らざるなり』と言ひたまふ。 | And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. |
| 13 | 又いづれの御使に曾て斯くは言ひ給ひしぞ『われ汝の仇を汝の足臺となすまでは、我が右に坐せよ』と。 | But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? |
| 14 | 御使はみな事へまつる靈にして、救を嗣がんとする者のために職を執るべく遣されたる者にあらずや。 | Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? |
