1 キリスト・イエスの囚人たるパウロ及び兄弟テモテ、書を我らが愛する同勞者ピレモン、 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
2 我らの姉妹アピヤ、我らと共に戰鬪をなせるアルキポ及び汝の家にある教會に贈る。 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
3 願はくは我らの父なる神および主イエス・キリストより賜ふ恩惠と平安と、汝らに在らんことを。 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 われ祈るとき常に汝をおぼえて我が神に感謝す。 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
5 これ主イエスと凡ての聖徒とに對する汝の愛と信仰とを聞きたればなり。 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
6 願ふところは、汝の信仰の交際の活動により、人々われらの中なる凡ての善き業を知りて、榮光をキリストに歸するに至らんことなり。 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
7 兄弟よ、我なんぢの愛によりて大なる勸喜と慰安とを得たり。聖徒の心は汝によりて安んぜられたればなり。 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
8 この故に、われキリストに在りて、汝になすべき事を聊かも憚らず命じ得れど、 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
9 むしろ愛の故によりて汝にねがふ。 Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
10 既に年 老いて今はキリスト・イエスの囚人となれる我パウロ、縲絏の中にて生みし我が子オネシモの事をなんぢに願ふ。 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
11 かれ前には汝に益なき者なりしが、今は汝にも我にも益ある者となれり。 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
12 我かれを汝に歸す、かれは我が心なり。 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
13 我は彼をわが許に留めおきて、我が福音のために縲絏にある間、なんぢに代りて我に事へしめんと欲したれど、 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
14 なんぢの承諾を經ずして斯くするを好まざりき、是なんぢの善の止むを得ざるに出でずして心より出でんことを欲したればなり。 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
15 彼が暫時なんぢを離れしは、或は汝かれを永遠に保ち、 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
16 もはや奴隷の如くせず、奴隷に勝りて愛する兄弟の如くせん爲なりしやも知るべからず。我は殊に彼を愛す、まして汝は肉によりても主によりても、之を愛せざる可けんや。 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
17 汝もし我を友とせば、請ふ、われを納るるごとく彼を納れよ。 If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.
18 彼もし汝に不義をなし、または汝に負債あらば、之を我に負はせよ。 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;
19 我パウロ手づから之を記す、われ償はん、汝われに身を以て償ふべき負債あれど、我これを言はず。 I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
20 兄弟よ、請ふ、なんぢ主に在りて我に益を得させよ、キリストに在りて我が心を安んぜよ。 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
21 我なんぢの從順を確信して之を書き贈る。わが言ふところに勝りて汝の行はんことを知るなり。 Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
22 而して我がために宿を備へよ、我なんぢらの祈により、遂に我が身の汝らに與へられんことを望めばなり。 But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
23 キリスト・イエスに在りて我とともに囚人となれるエパフラス、 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;
24 及び我が同勞者マルコ、アリスタルコ、デマス、ルカ皆なんぢに安否を問ふ。 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.
25 願はくは主イエス・キリストの恩惠、なんぢらの靈と偕にあらんことを。 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. Written from Rome to Philemon, by Onesimus a servant.
