1 爰にヱホバ、アブラムに言たまひけるは汝の國を出で汝の親族に別れ汝の父の家を離れて我が汝に示さん其地に至れ Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 我汝を大なる國民と成し汝を祝み汝の名を大ならしめん汝は祉福の基となるべし And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 我は汝を祝する者を祝し汝を詛ふ者を詛はん天下の諸の宗族汝によりて福禔を獲と And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4 アブラム乃ちヱホバの自己に言たまひし言に從て出たりロト彼と共に行りアブラムはハランを出たる時七十五歳なりき So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
5 アブラム其妻サライと其弟の子ロトおよび其集めたる總の所有とハランにて獲たる人衆を携へてカナンの地に往んとて出で遂にカナンの地に至れり And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
6 アブラム其地を經過てシケムの處に及びモレの橡樹に至れり其時にカナン人其地に住り And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
7 茲にヱホバ、アブラムに顯現れて我汝の苗裔に此地に與へんといひたまへり彼處にて彼己に顯現れたまひしヱホバに壇を築けり And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
8 彼其處よりベテルの東の山に移りて其天幕を張り西にベテル東にアイありき彼處にて彼ヱホバに壇を築きヱホバの名を龥り And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth–el, and pitched his tent, having Beth–el on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.
9 アブラム尚進て南に遷れり And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.
10 茲に饑饉其地にありければアブラム、エジプトに寄寓らんとて彼處に下れり其は饑饉其地に甚しかりければなり And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.
11 彼近く來りてエジプトに入んとする時其妻サライに言けるは視よ我汝を觀て美麗き婦人なるを知る And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:
12 是故にエジプト人汝を見る時是は彼の妻なりと言て我を殺さん然ど汝をば生存かん Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.
13 請ふ汝わが妹なりと言へ然ば我汝の故によりて安にしてわが命汝のために生存ん Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
14 アブラム、エジプトに至りし時エジプト人此婦を見て甚だ美麗となせり And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.
15 またパロの大臣等彼を視て彼をパロの前に譽めければ婦遂にパロの家に召入れられたり The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.
16 是に於てパロ彼のために厚くアブラムを待ひてアブラム遂に羊牛僕婢牝牡の驢馬および駱駝を多く獲るに至れり And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.
17 時にヱホバ、アブラムの妻サライの故によりて大なる災を以てパロと其家を惱したまへり And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.
18 パロ、アブラムを召て言けるは汝が我になしたる此事は何ぞや汝何故に彼が汝の妻なるを我に告ざりしや And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?
19 汝何故に彼はわが妹なりといひしや我幾彼をわが妻にめとらんとせり然ば汝の妻は此にあり挈去るべしと Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
20 パロ即ち彼の事を人々に命じければ彼と其妻および其有る諸の物を送りさらしめたり And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.
