| 1 | 柔和なる答は憤恨をとどめ厲しき言は怒を激す | A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. |
| 2 | 智慧ある者の舌は知識を善きものとおもはしめ 愚なる者の口はおろかをはく | The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. |
| 3 | ヱホバの目は何處にもありて惡人と善人とを鑒みる | The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. |
| 4 | 温柔き舌は生命の樹なり 悖れる舌は霊魂を傷ましむ | A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit. |
| 5 | 愚なる者はその父の訓をかろんず 誡命をまもる者は賢者なり | A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. |
| 6 | 義者の家には多くの資財あり 惡者の利潤には擾累あり | In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. |
| 7 | 智者のくちびるは知識をひろむ 愚なる者の心は定りなし | The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so. |
| 8 | 惡者の祭物はヱホバに憎まれ 直き人の祈は彼に悦ばる | The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. |
| 9 | 惡者の道はヱホバに憎まれ 正義をもとむる者は彼に愛せらる | The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. |
| 10 | 道をはなるる者には嚴しき懲治あり 譴責を惡む者は死ぬべし | Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die. |
| 11 | 陰府と沉淪とはヱホバの目の前にあり 况て人の心をや | Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? |
| 12 | 嘲笑者は誡めらるることを好まず また智慧ある者に近づかず | A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise. |
| 13 | 心に喜樂あれば顔色よろこばし 心に憂苦あれば氣ふさぐ | A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. |
| 14 | 哲者のこころは知識をたづね 愚なる者の口は愚をくらふ | The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness. |
| 15 | 艱難者の日はことごとく惡く 心の懽べる者は恒に酒宴にあり | All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast. |
| 16 | すこしの物を有てヱホバを畏るるは多の寳をもちて擾煩あるに愈る | Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith. |
| 17 | 蔬菜をくらひて互に愛するは肥たる牛を食ひて互に恨むるに愈る | Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. |
| 18 | 憤ほり易きものは爭端をおこし 怒をおそくする者は爭端をとどむ | A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. |
| 19 | 惰者の道は棘の籬に似たり 直者の途は平坦なり | The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain. |
| 20 | 智慧ある子は父をよろこばせ 愚なる人はその母をかろんず | A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother. |
| 21 | 無知なる者は愚なる事をよろこび 哲者はその途を直くす | Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly. |
| 22 | 相議ることあらざれば謀計やぶる 議者おほければ謀計かならず成る | Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. |
| 23 | 人はその口の答によりて喜樂をう 言語を出して時に適ふはいかに善らずや | A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! |
| 24 | 智人の途は生命の路にして上へ昇りゆく これ下にあるところの陰府を離れんが爲なり | The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. |
| 25 | ヱホバはたかぶる者の家をほろぼし 寡婦の地界をさだめたまふ | The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow. |
| 26 | あしき謀計はヱホバに憎まれ 温柔き言は潔白し | The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord: but the words of the pure are pleasant words. |
| 27 | 不義の利をむさぼる者はその家をわづらはせ 賄賂をにくむ者は活ながらふべし | He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live. |
| 28 | 義者の心は答ふべきことを考へ 惡者の口は惡を吐く | The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. |
| 29 | ヱホバは惡者に遠ざかり 義者の祈祷をききたまふ | The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. |
| 30 | 目の光は心をよろこばせ 好音信は骨をうるほす | The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat. |
| 31 | 生命の誡命をきくところの耳は智慧ある者の中間に駐まる | The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. |
| 32 | 敎をすつる者は自己の生命をかろんずるなり 懲治をきく者は聰明を得 | He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. |
| 33 | ヱホバを畏るることは智慧の訓なり 謙遜は尊貴に先だつ | The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility. |
