1 また天に大なる徴 見えたり。日を著たる女ありて、其の足の下に月あり、其の頭に十二の星の冠冕あり。 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
2 かれは孕りをりしが、子を産まんとして産みの苦痛と惱とのために叫べり、 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
3 また天に他の徴 見えたり。視よ、大なる赤き龍あり、これに七つの頭と十の角とありて、頭には七つの冠冕あり。 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4 その尾は天の星の三分の一を引きて之を地に落せり。龍は子を産まんとする女の前に立ち、産むを待ちて其の子を食ひ盡さんと構へたり。 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
5 女は男子を産めり、この子は鐵の杖もて諸種の國人を治めん。かれは神の許に、その御座の下に擧げられたり。 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
6 女は荒野に逃げゆけり。彼處に千二百 六十日の間かれが養はるる爲に神の備へ給へる所あり。 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
7 かくて天に戰爭おこれり、ミカエル及びその使たち龍とたたかふ。龍もその使たちも之と戰ひしが、 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 勝つこと能はず、天には、はや其の居る所なかりき。 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 かの大なる龍、すなわち惡魔と呼ばれ、サタンと呼ばれたる全世界をまどはす古き蛇は落され、地に落され、その使たちも共に落されたり。 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 我また天に大なる聲ありて『われらの神の救と能力と國と神のキリストの權威とは、今すでに來れり。我らの兄弟を訴へ夜晝われらの神の前に訴ふるもの落されたり。 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 而して兄弟たちは羔羊の血と己が證の言とによりて勝ち、死に至るまで己が生命を惜まざりき。 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12 この故に天および天に住める者よ、よろこべ、地と海とは禍害なるかな、惡魔おのが時の暫時なるを知り、大なる憤恚をいだきて汝 等のもとに下りたればなり』と云ふを聞けり。 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
13 かくて龍はおのが地に落されしを見て、男子を生みし女を責めたりしが、 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
14 女は荒野なる己が處に飛ぶために、大なる鷲の兩の翼を與へられたれば、其處にいたり、一年、二年、また半年のあひだ蛇のまへを離れて養はれたり。 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
15 蛇はその口より水を川のごとく、女の背後に吐きて之を流さんとしたれど、 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 地は女を助け、その口を開きて龍の口より吐きたる川を呑み盡せり。 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
17 龍は女を怒りてその裔の殘れるもの、即ち神の誡命を守りイエスの證を有てる者に、戰鬪を挑まんとて出でゆき、 海邊の砂の上に立てり。 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
