1 ヨナ魚の腹の中よりその神ヱホバに祈祷て Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly,
2 曰けるは われ患難の中よりヱホバを呼びしに彼われこたへたまへり われ陰府の腹の中より呼はりしに汝わが聲を聽たまへり And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
3 汝我を淵のうち海の中心に投いれたまひて海の水我を環り汝の波濤と巨浪すべて我上にながる For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4 われ曰けるは我なんぢの目の前より逐れたれども復汝の聖殿を望まん Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 水われを環りて 魂にも及ばんとし淵我をとりかこみ海草わが頭に纒へり The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 われ山の根基にまで下れり 地の關木いつも我うしろにありき しかるに我神ヱホバよ汝はわが命を深き穴より救ひあげたまへり I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God.
7 わが靈魂衷に弱りしとき我ヱホバをおもへり しかしてわが祈なんぢに至りなんぢの聖殿におよべり When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
8 いつはりなる虚き者につかふるものは自己の恩たる者を棄つ They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 されど我は感謝の聲をもて汝に獻祭をなし 又わが誓願をなんぢに償さん 救はヱホバより出るなりと But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
10 ヱホバ其魚に命じたまひければヨナを陸に吐出せり And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
