1 されば汝ら愛せらるる子供のごとく、神に效ふ者となれ。 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 又キリストの汝らを愛し、我らのために己を馨しき香の献物とし犧牲として、神に献げ給ひし如く、愛の中をあゆめ。 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 聖徒たるに適ふごとく、淫行、もろもろの汚穢、また慳貪を汝らの間にて稱ふる事だに爲な。 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 また恥づべき言・愚なる話・戯言を言ふな、これ宜しからぬ事なり、寧ろ感謝せよ。 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 凡て淫行のもの、汚れたるもの、貪るもの、即ち偶像を拜む者どもの、キリストと神との國の世嗣たることを得ざるは、汝らの確く知る所なり。 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 汝ら人の虚しき言に欺かるな、神の怒はこれらの事によりて不 從順の子らに及ぶなり。 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 この故に彼らに與する者となるな。 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 汝ら舊は闇なりしが、今は主に在りて光となれり、光の子供のごとく歩め。 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 （光の結ぶ實はもろもろの善と正義と誠實となり） (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 主の喜び給ふところの如何なるかを辨へ知れ。 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 實を結ばぬ暗き業に與する事なく、反つて之を責めよ。 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 彼らが隱れて行ふことは之を言ふだに恥づべき事なり。 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 凡てかかる事は、責めらるるとき光にて顯さる、顯さるる者はみな光となるなり。 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 この故に言ひ給ふ『眠れる者よ、起きよ、死人の中より立ち上れ。さらばキリスト汝を照し給はん』 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 されば愼みてその歩むところに心せよ、智からぬ者の如くせず、智き者の如くし、 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 また機會をうかがへ、そは時 惡しければなり。 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 この故に愚とならず、主の御意の如何を悟れ。 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 酒に醉ふな、放蕩はその中にあり、むしろ御靈にて滿され、 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 詩と讃美と靈の歌とをもて語り合ひ、また主に向ひて心より且うたひ、かつ讃美せよ。 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 凡ての事に就きて常に我らの主イエス・キリストの名によりて父なる神に感謝し、 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 キリストを畏みて互に服へ。 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22 妻たる者よ、主に服ふごとく己の夫に服へ。 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 キリストは自ら體の救主にして教會の首なるごとく、夫は妻の首なればなり。 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 教會のキリストに服ふごとく、妻も凡てのこと夫に服へ。 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 夫たる者よ、キリストの教會を愛し、之がために己を捨て給ひしごとく、汝らも妻を愛せよ。 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 キリストの己を捨て給ひしは、水の洗をもて言によりて教會を潔め、これを聖なる者として、 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 汚點なく皺なく、凡て斯くのごとき類なく、潔き瑕なき尊き教會を、おのれの前に建てん爲なり。 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 斯くのごとく夫はその妻を己の體のごとく愛すべし。妻を愛するは己を愛するなり。 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 己の身を憎む者は曾てあることなし、皆これを育て養ふ、キリストの教會に於けるも亦かくの如し。 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 我らは彼の體の肢なり、 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 『この故に人は父 母を離れ、その妻に合ひて二人のもの一體となるべし』 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 この奧義は大なり、わが言ふ所はキリストと教會とを指せるなり。 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 汝 等おのおの己のごとく其の妻を愛せよ、妻も亦その夫を敬ふべし。 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
