| 1 | このとき天國は、燈火を執りて新郎を迎へに出づる、十 人の處女に比ふべし。 | Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. |
| 2 | その中の五 人は愚にして五 人は慧し。 | And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. |
| 3 | 愚なる者は燈火をとりて油を携へず、 | They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: |
| 4 | 慧きものは油を器に入れて燈火とともに携へたり。 | But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. |
| 5 | 新郎 遲かりしかば、皆まどろみて寢ぬ。 | While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. |
| 6 | 夜半に「やよ、新郎なるぞ、出で迎へよ」と呼はる聲す。 | And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. |
| 7 | ここに處女みな起きてその燈火を整へたるに、 | Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. |
| 8 | 愚なる者は慧きものに言ふ「なんぢらの油を分けあたへよ、我らの燈火きゆるなり」 | And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. |
| 9 | 慧きもの答へて言ふ「恐らくは我らと汝らとに足るまじ、寧ろ賣るものに往きて己がために買へ」 | But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. |
| 10 | 彼ら買はんとて往きたる間に新郎きたりたれば、備へをりし者どもは彼とともに婚筵にいり、而して門は閉されたり。 | And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. |
| 11 | その後かの他の處女ども來りて「主よ、主よ、われらの爲にひらき給へ」と言ひしに、 | Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. |
| 12 | 答へて「まことに汝らに告ぐ、我は汝らを知らず」と言へり。 | But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. |
| 13 | されば目を覺しをれ、汝らは其の日その時を知らざるなり。 | Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. |
| 14 | また或 人とほく旅立せんとして、其の僕どもを呼び、之に己が所有を預くるが如し。 | For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. |
| 15 | 各人の能力に應じて、或 者には五タラント、或 者には二タラント、或 者には一タラントを與へ置きて旅立せり。 | And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. |
| 16 | 五タラントを受けし者は、直ちに往き、之をはたらかせて他に五タラントを贏け、 | Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. |
| 17 | 二タラントを受けし者も同じく他に二タラントを贏く。 | And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. |
| 18 | 然るに一タラントを受けし者は、往きて地を掘り、その主人の銀をかくし置けり。 | But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. |
| 19 | 久しうして後この僕どもの主人きたりて彼らと計算したるに、 | After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. |
| 20 | 五タラントを受けし者は他に五タラントを持ちきたりて言ふ「主よ、なんぢ我に五タラントを預けたりしが、視よ、他に五タラントを贏けたり」 | And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. |
| 21 | 主人いふ「宜いかな、善かつ忠なる僕、なんぢは僅なる物に忠なりき。我なんぢに多くの物を掌どらせん、汝の主人の勸喜に入れ」 | His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. |
| 22 | 二タラントを受けし者も來りて言ふ「主よ、なんぢ我に二タラントを預けたりしが、視よ、他に二タラントを贏けたり」 | He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. |
| 23 | 主人いふ「宜いかな、善かつ忠なる僕、なんぢは僅なる物に忠なりき。我なんぢに多くの物を掌どらせん、汝の主人の勸喜にいれ」 | His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. |
| 24 | また一タラントを受けし者もきたりて言ふ「主よ、我はなんぢの嚴しき人にて、播かぬ處より刈り、散らさぬ處より斂むることを知るゆゑに、 | Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: |
| 25 | 懼れてゆき、汝のタラントを地に藏しおけり。視よ、汝はなんぢの物を得たり」 | And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. |
| 26 | 主人こたへて言ふ「惡しくかつ惰れる僕、わが播かぬ處より刈り、散さぬ處より斂むることを知るか。 | His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: |
| 27 | さらば我が銀を銀行にあづけ置くべかりしなり、我きたりて利子とともに我が物をうけ取りしものを。 | Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. |
| 28 | されば彼のタラントを取りて十タラントを有てる人に與へよ。 | Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. |
| 29 | すべて有てる人は、與へられて愈々 豐ならん。されど有たぬ者は、その有てる物をも取らるべし。 | For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. |
| 30 | 而して此の無 益なる僕を外の暗黒に逐ひいだせ、其處にて哀哭・切齒することあらん」 | And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. |
| 31 | 人の子その榮光をもて、もろもろの御使を率ゐきたる時、その榮光の座位に坐せん。 | When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: |
| 32 | かくてその前にもろもろの國人あつめられん、之を別つこと牧羊者が羊と山羊とを別つ如くして、 | And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: |
| 33 | 羊をその右に、山羊をその左におかん。 | And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. |
| 34 | ここに王その右にをる者どもに言はん「わが父に祝せられたる者よ、來りて世の創より汝 等のために備へられたる國を嗣げ。 | Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: |
| 35 | なんぢら我が飢ゑしときに食はせ、渇きしときに飮ませ、旅人なりし時に宿らせ、 | For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: |
| 36 | 裸なりしときに衣せ、病みしときに訪ひ、獄に在りしときに來りたればなり」 | Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. |
| 37 | ここに、正しき者ら答へて言はん「主よ、何時なんぢの飢ゑしを見て食はせ、渇きしを見て飮ませし。 | Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? |
| 38 | 何時なんぢの旅人なりしを見て宿らせ、裸なりしを見て衣せし。 | When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? |
| 39 | 何時なんぢの病みまた獄に在りしを見て、汝にいたりし」 | Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? |
| 40 | 王こたへて言はん「まことに汝らに告ぐ、わが兄弟なる此 等のいと小き者の一人になしたるは、即ち我に爲したるなり」 | And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. |
| 41 | かくてまた左にをる者どもに言はん「詛はれたる者よ、我を離れて惡魔とその使らとのために備へられたる永遠の火に入れ。 | Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: |
| 42 | なんぢら我が飢ゑしときに食はせず、渇きしときに飮ませず、 | For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: |
| 43 | 旅人なりしときに宿らせず、裸なりしときに衣せず、病みまた獄にありしときに訪はざればなり」 | I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. |
| 44 | ここに彼らも答へて言はん「主よ、いつ汝の飢ゑ、或は渇き、或は旅人、あるひは裸、あるひは病み、或は獄に在りしを見て事へざりし」 | Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? |
| 45 | ここに王こたへて言はん「誠になんぢらに告ぐ、此 等のいと小きものの一人に爲さざりしは、即ち我になさざりしなり」と。 | Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. |
| 46 | かくて、これらの者は去りて永遠の刑罰にいり、正しき者は永遠の生命に入らん』 | And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. |
