1 われら強き者はおのれを喜ばせずして、力なき者の弱を負ふべし。 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 おのおの隣 人の徳を建てん爲に、その益を圖りて之を喜ばすべし。 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
3 キリストだに己を喜ばせ給はざりき。録して『なんぢを謗る者の謗は我に及べり』とあるが如し。 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
4 夙くより録されたる所は、みな我らの教訓のために録ししものにして、聖書の忍耐と慰安とによりて希望を保たせんとてなり。 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
5 願はくは忍耐と慰安との神、なんぢらをしてキリスト・イエスに效ひ、互に思を同じうせしめ給はん事を。 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
6 これ汝らが心を一つにし口を一つにして、我らの主イエス・キリストの父なる神を崇めん爲なり。 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 此の故にキリスト汝らを容れ給ひしごとく、汝らも互に相 容れて神の榮光を彰すべし。 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
8 われ言ふ、キリストは神の眞理のために割禮の役者となり給へり。これ先祖たちの蒙りし約束を堅うし給はん爲、 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
9 また異邦人も憐憫によりて神を崇めんためなり。録して『この故に、われ異邦人の中にて汝を讃めたたへ、又なんぢの名を謳はん』とあるが如し。 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
10 また曰く『異邦人よ、主の民と共に喜べ』 And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
11 又いはく『もろもろの國人よ、主を讃め奉れ、もろもろの民よ、主を稱へ奉れ』 And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
12 又イザヤ言ふ『エツサイの萠薛 生じ、異邦人を治むるもの興らん。異邦人は彼に望をおかん』 And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
13 願はくは希望の神、信仰より出づる凡ての喜悦と平安とを汝らに滿たしめ、聖 靈の能力によりて希望を豐ならしめ給はんことを。 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
14 わが兄弟よ、われは汝らが自ら善に滿ち、もろもろの知識に滿ちて互に訓戒し得ることを確く信ず。 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
15 されど我なほ汝らに憶ひ出させん爲に、ここかしこ少しく憚らずして書きたる所あり、これ神の我に賜ひたる恩惠に因る。 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
16 即ち異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスの仕人となり、神の福音につきて祭司の職をなす。これ異邦人の聖 靈によりて潔められ、御心に適ふ献物とならん爲なり。 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
17 されば、われ神の事につきては、キリスト・イエスによりて誇る所あり。 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.
18 我は、キリストの異邦人を服はせん爲に我を用ひて、言と業と、 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
19 また徴と不思議との能力、および聖 靈の能力にて働き給ひし事のほかは敢へて語らず、エルサレムよりイルリコの地方に到るまで、徧くキリストの福音を充たせり。 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
20 我は努めて他人の置ゑたる基礎のうへに建てじとて、未だキリストの御名の稱へられぬ所にのみ福音を宣傅へり。 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation:
21 録して『未だ彼のことを傳へられざりし者は見、いまだ聞かざりし者は悟るべし』とあるが如し。 But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.
22 この故に、われ汝らに往かんとせしが、しばしば妨げられたり。 For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.
23 されど今は此の地方に働くべき處なく、且なんぢらに往かんことを多年 切に望みゐたれば、 But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;
24 イスパニヤに赴かんとき立寄りて汝らを見、ほぼ意に滿つるを得てのち汝らに送られんとを望むなり。 Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
25 されど今、聖徒に事へん爲にエルサレムに往かんとす。 But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
26 マケドニアとアカヤとの人々は、エルサレムに在る聖徒の貧しき者に幾許かの施與をするを善しとせり。 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
27 實に之を善しとせり、また聖徒に對して斯くする負債あり。異邦人もし彼らの靈の物に與りたらんには、肉の物をもて彼らに事ふべきなり。 It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.
28 されば此の事を成し了へ、この果を付してのち、汝らを歴てイスパニヤに往かん。 When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.
29 われ汝らに到るときは、キリストの滿ち足れる祝福をもて到らんことを知る。 And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
30 兄弟よ、我らの主イエス・キリストにより、また御靈の愛によりて汝らに勸む、なんぢらの祈のうちに、我とともに力を盡して我がために神に祈れ。 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
31 これユダヤにをる從はぬ者の中より我が救はれ、又エルサレムに對する我が務の聖徒の心に適ひ、 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;
32 かつ神の御意により、歡喜をもて汝 等にいたり、共に安んぜん爲なり。 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
33 願はくは平和の神なんぢら衆と偕に在さんことを、アァメン。 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
