| 1 | されど汝は健全なる教に適ふことを語れ。 | But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: |
| 2 | 老人には自ら制することと謹嚴と謹愼とを勸め、また信仰と愛と忍耐とに健全ならんことを勸めよ。 | That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. |
| 3 | 老いたる女にも同じく、清潔にかなふ行爲をなし、人を謗らず、大酒の奴隷とならず、善き事を教ふる者とならんことを勸めよ。 | The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; |
| 4 | かつ彼 等をして若き女に夫を愛し、子を愛し、 | That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, |
| 5 | 謹愼と貞操とを守り、家の務をなし、仁慈をもち、己が夫に服はんことを教へしめよ。これ神の言の汚されざらん爲なり。 | To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. |
| 6 | 若き人にも同じく謹愼を勸め、 | Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. |
| 7 | なんぢ自ら凡ての事につきて善き業の模範を示せ。教をなすには邪曲なきことと謹嚴と、 | In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, |
| 8 | 責むべき所なき健全なる言とを以てすべし。これ逆ふ者をして我らの惡を言ふに由なく、自ら恥づる所あらしめん爲なり。 | Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. |
| 9 | 奴隷には己が主人に服ひ、凡ての事において之を喜ばせ、之に言ひ逆はず、 | Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; |
| 10 | 物を盜まず、反つて全き忠信を顯すべきことを勸めよ。これ凡ての事において我らの救主なる神の教を飾らん爲なり。 | Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. |
| 11 | 凡ての人に救を得さする神の恩惠は既に顯れて、 | For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, |
| 12 | 不 敬虔と世の慾とを棄てて謹愼と正義と敬虔とをもて此の世を過し、 | Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; |
| 13 | 幸福なる望、すなはち大なる神、われらの救主イエス・キリストの榮光の顯現を待つべきを我らに教ふ。 | Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; |
| 14 | キリストは我等のために己を與へたまへり。是われらを諸般の不法より贖ひ出して、善き業に熱心なる特選の民を己がために潔めんとてなり。 | Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. |
| 15 | なんぢ全き權威をもて此 等のことを語り、勸め、また責めよ。なんぢ人に輕んぜらるな。 | These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. |
