1 キリストは自由を得させん爲に我らを釋き放ちたまへり。されば堅く立ちて再び奴隷の軛に繋がるな。 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 視よ、我パウロ汝らに言ふ、もし割禮を受けば、キリストは汝らに益なし。 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 又さらに凡て割禮を受くる人に證す、かれは律法の全體を行ふべき負債あり。 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 律法に由りて義とせられんと思ふ汝らは、キリストより離れたり、恩惠より墮ちたり。 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 我らは御靈により、信仰によりて希望をいだき、義とせらるることを待てるなり。 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 キリスト・イエスに在りては、割禮を受くるも割禮を受けぬも益なく、ただ愛に由りてはたらく信仰のみ益あり。 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7 なんぢら前には善く走りたるに、誰が汝らの眞理に從ふを阻みしか。 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 かかる勸は汝らを召したまふ者より出づるにあらず。 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
9 少しのパン種は粉の團塊をみな膨れしむ。 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
10 われ汝らに就きては、その聊かも異念を懷かぬことを主によりて信ず。されど汝らを擾す者は、誰にもあれ審判を受けん。 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
11 兄弟よ、我もし今も割禮を宣傳へば、何ぞなほ迫害せられんや。もし然せば十字架の顛躓も止みしならん。 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
12 願はくは汝らを亂す者どもの自己を不具にせんことを。 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
13 兄弟よ、汝らの召されたるは自由を與へられん爲なり。ただ其の自由を肉に從ふ機會となさず、反つて愛をもて互に事へよ。 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 それ律法の全體は『おのれの如くなんぢの隣を愛すべし』との一言にて全うせらるるなり。 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 心せよ、若し互に咬み食はば相 共に亡されん。 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16 我いふ、御靈によりて歩め、さらば肉の慾を遂げざるべし。 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 肉の望むところは御靈にさからひ、御靈の望むところは肉にさからひて互に相 戻ればなり。これ汝らの欲する所をなし得ざらしめん爲なり。 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 汝 等もし御靈に導かれなば、律法の下にあらじ。 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 それ肉の行爲はあらはなり。即ち淫行・汚穢・好色・ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 偶像 崇拜・呪術・怨恨・紛爭・嫉妬・憤恚・徒黨・分離・異端・ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 猜忌・醉酒・宴樂などの如し。我すでに警めたるごとく、今また警む。斯かることを行ふ者は神の國を嗣ぐことなし。 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 されど御靈の果は愛・喜悦・平和・寛容・仁慈・善良・忠信・ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 柔和・節制なり。斯かるものを禁ずる律法はあらず。 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 キリスト・イエスに屬する者は、肉とともに其の情と慾とを十字架につけたり。 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 もし我ら御靈に由りて生きなば、御靈に由りて歩むべし。 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 互に挑み互に妬みて、虚しき譽を求むることを爲な。 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
