1
Confession and Forgiveness
Happy are those whose sins are forgiven, whose wrongs are pardoned.
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Happy is the one whom the Lord does not accuse of doing wrong and who is free from all deceit. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I did not confess my sins, I was worn out from crying all day long. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4 Day and night you punished me, Lord; my strength was completely drained, as moisture is dried up by the summer heat. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 Then I confessed my sins to you; I did not conceal my wrongdoings. I decided to confess them to you, and you forgave all my sins. I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 So all your loyal people should pray to you in times of need; when a great flood of trouble comes rushing in, it will not reach them. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 You are my hiding place; you will save me from trouble. I sing aloud of your salvation, because you protect me. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 The Lord says, “I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct you and advise you. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Don't be stupid like a horse or a mule, which must be controlled with a bit and bridle to make it submit.” Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
10 The wicked will have to suffer, but those who trust in the Lord are protected by his constant love. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.
11 You that are righteous, be glad and rejoice because of what the Lord has done. You that obey him, shout for joy! Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
