A Prayer for Guidance and Protection
To you, O Lord, I offer my prayer;
Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
in you, my God, I trust. Save me from the shame of defeat; don't let my enemies gloat over me! O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
Defeat does not come to those who trust in you, but to those who are quick to rebel against you. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
Teach me your ways, O Lord; make them known to me. Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
Teach me to live according to your truth, for you are my God, who saves me. I always trust in you. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Remember, O Lord, your kindness and constant love which you have shown from long ago. Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
Forgive the sins and errors of my youth. In your constant love and goodness, remember me, Lord! Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.
Because the Lord is righteous and good, he teaches sinners the path they should follow. Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in the right way and teaches them his will. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
With faithfulness and love he leads all who keep his covenant and obey his commands. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Keep your promise, Lord, and forgive my sins, for they are many. For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
Those who have reverence for the Lord will learn from him the path they should follow. What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
They will always be prosperous, and their children will possess the land. His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
The Lord is the friend of those who obey him and he affirms his covenant with them. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
I look to the Lord for help at all times, and he rescues me from danger. Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
Turn to me, Lord, and be merciful to me, because I am lonely and weak. Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
Relieve me of my worries and save me from all my troubles. The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
Consider my distress and suffering and forgive all my sins. Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
See how many enemies I have; see how much they hate me. Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
Protect me and save me; keep me from defeat. I come to you for safety. O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
May my goodness and honesty preserve me, because I trust in you. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
From all their troubles, O God, save your people Israel! Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.
