1	Gott ist ein gerechter Richter Elihu setzte seine Rede fort, er sagte:	Elihu also proceeded, and said,
2	»Ertrage mich, hör noch ein wenig zu; ich hab noch einiges für Gott zu sagen.	Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God’s behalf.
3	Mein Wissen hole ich aus weiter Ferne, um zu beweisen, dass mein Schöpfer recht hat.	I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
4	Verlass dich drauf: Ich sage dir die Wahrheit! Der vor dir steht, ist seiner Sache sicher.	For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
5	Gott hat die Macht, doch treibt er keinen Spott; als Richter urteilt er mit fester Klarheit.	Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
6	Er lässt die Unheilstifter nicht am Leben, den Unterdrückten aber schafft er Recht.	He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
7	Gott wendet seinen Blick nicht von den Treuen. Wenn sie mit Königen zusammen herrschen, dann lässt er sie für immer Ehre finden.	He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.
8	Doch sind sie in Gefangenschaft geraten und leiden unterm harten Druck der Fesseln,	And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
9	dann zeigt er ihnen damit ihre Schuld, dass sie so stolz und überheblich waren.	Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.
10	Für seine Warnung schärft er ihr Gehör, damit sie sich von allem Bösen trennen.	He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
11	Wenn sie gehorchen und sich unterwerfen, dann werden Glück und Freude sie begleiten an jedem Tag, in jedem Lebensjahr.	If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12	Wenn nicht, dann laufen sie in ihren Tod und gehn in ihrem Unverstand zugrunde.	But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
13	Wer Gott verlassen hat, der klagt ihn an. Wenn Gott ihn einschließt, schreit er nicht zu ihm.	But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
14	Sein Leben endet in den besten Jahren, im Jugendalter muss er schändlich sterben.	They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
15	Wer aber leidet, wird durchs Leid gebessert; Gott öffnet ihm die Augen durch die Not.	He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
16	Auch dir hat Gott die Freiheit einst geschenkt, aus Not und Enge hat er dich gerettet; die besten Speisen füllten deinen Tisch.	Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
17	Doch nun trifft dich der volle Lohn der Bosheit, das Urteil über dich ist schon gefällt.	But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
18	Lass dich vom Zorn nicht zum Rebellen machen! Verlass dich nicht auf hohes Lösegeld!	Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
19	Meinst du, dein Reichtum reiche dafür aus? Dein Gold hilft gar nichts, auch nicht deine Kraft.	Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.
20	Und warte nicht voll Sehnsucht auf die Nacht, in der die Völker ausgerottet werden!	Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
21	Gib acht, dass du dich nicht zum Bösen wendest, auch wenn du das für besser hältst als leiden.	Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
22	Hab Ehrfurcht vor dem mächtigen Gott! Besinne dich auf Gottes große Macht! Er ist der beste Lehrer, den wir kennen.	Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
23	Wer könnte ihm befehlen, was er tun soll? Wer könnte zu ihm sagen: ›Das war Unrecht‹?	Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
24	Vergiss nicht, ihm zu danken für sein Tun, für das die Menschen ihn mit Liedern preisen.	Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
25	Die ganze Welt betrachtet es mit Staunen, auch wenn wir’s nur von Weitem sehen können.	Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
26	Gott ist so groß, dass wir ihn nicht begreifen, und seiner Jahre Zahl ist unergründbar.	Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
27	Er zieht die Wassertropfen hoch zum Himmel und sammelt sie als Regen für die Erde.	For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
28	Die Wolken lassen sie hinunterrieseln und gießen sie auf all die vielen Menschen.	Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
29	Wer kann verstehen, wie die Wolken schweben, warum am Himmelszelt der Donner rollt?	Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?
30	Die Wolken leuchten auf von seinen Blitzen, jedoch die Meerestiefen bleiben dunkel.	Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
31	Auf diese Weise sorgt Gott für die Völker und gibt den Menschen überreichlich Speise.	For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
32	Er packt den Blitzstrahl fest mit beiden Händen und dann befiehlt er ihm, sein Ziel zu treffen.	With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
33	Der Donner kündet das Gewitter an und auch die Herden fühlen, dass es kommt.	The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
