1	Mit Gott kannst du dich nicht vergleichen! Weiter sagte Elihu:	Elihu spake moreover, and said,
2	»Glaubst du denn allen Ernstes, es sei richtig, dass du dich für gerechter hältst als Gott?	Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
3	Du sagst zu ihm: ›Was nützt mir meine Unschuld? Sie fällt bei dir ja doch nicht ins Gewicht!‹	For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
4	Auf diese Frage will ich Antwort geben; sie gilt zu gleicher Zeit für deine Freunde:	I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
5	Sieh einmal aufmerksam den Himmel an! Sieh auch die Wolken dort hoch über dir!	Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
6	Mit deiner Sünde kannst du Gott nicht schaden und alle deine Fehler tun ihm nichts.	If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7	Ihm bringt’s auch nichts, wenn du das Rechte tust; er ist auf dein Geschenk nicht angewiesen.	If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
8	Dein Mitmensch leidet unter deiner Bosheit und ihm nur nützt das Gute, das du tust.	Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
9	Die Menschen stöhnen, rufen laut um Hilfe, wenn Mächtige sie grausam unterdrücken.	By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10	Doch keiner fragt nach Gott, nach seinem Schöpfer, der Lobgesänge gibt in dunkler Nacht.	But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11	Gott hat uns mehr gelehrt als alle Tiere, er gab uns mehr Verstand als allen Vögeln.	Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12	Um Hilfe schreien wir, doch Gott bleibt stumm, weil wir voll Bosheit und voll Hochmut sind.	There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13	Das Schreien ist umsonst, Gott hört es nicht; er, der Gewaltige, sieht uns nicht an.	Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14	Du, Ijob, sagst, du könntest Gott nicht sehen. Hab nur Geduld, dein Fall ist ihm bekannt!	Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
15	Weil Gott dich seinen Zorn nicht spüren ließ und sich nicht groß um so viel Dummheit kümmert,	But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
16	reißt du den Mund auf, redest solchen Unsinn.«	Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
