| 2 | La signoria, e lo spavento, è con lui; Egli fa in pace ciò che gli piace ne’ suoi cieli altissimi. | Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. |
| 3 | Le sue schiere si posson esse annoverare? E sopra cui non si leva la sua luce? | Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? |
| 4 | Ma come sarà giusto l’uomo appo Iddio? E come sarà puro colui ch’è nato di donna? | How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? |
| 5 | Ecco, fino alla luna non sarà pura, e non risplenderà; E le stelle non saranno pure nel suo cospetto. | Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. |
| 6 | Quanto meno l’uomo, che è un verme, E il figliuol dell’uomo, che è un vermicello? | How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? |
