1 Kiittäkäät Herraa; sillä hän on hyvä, ja hänen laupiutensa pysyy ijankaikkisesti. O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Sanokaan Herran lunastetut, jotka hän on tuskasta vapahtanut, Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 Ja jotka hän on maakunnista koonnut, idästä ja lännestä, pohjoisesta ja etelästä, And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4 Jotka eksyksissä vaelsivat korvessa umpitietä, ja ei he löytäneet kaupunkia asuaksensa, They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
5 Isoovaiset ja janoovaiset; ja heidän sielunsa vaipui heissä. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Ja he huusivat Herraa tuskissansa, ja hän pelasti heitä heidän hädistänsä, Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

8 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee: Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 Että hän ravitsee himoitsevaisen sielun ja täyttää isoovaisen sielun hyvyydellä. For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
10 Jotka istuvat pimeässä ja kuoleman varjossa, vangitut ahdistuksessa ja raudoissa: Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
11 Että he olivat Jumalan käskyä vastaan kovakorvaiset, ja olivat katsoneet ylön ylimmäisen lain; Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:
12 Sentähden täytyi heidän sydämensä onnettomuudella vaivattaa, niin että he lankesivat, ja ei kenkään heitä auttanut. Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.

14 Ja vei heitä pimeydestä ulos ja kuoleman varjosta, ja särki heidän siteensä. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
15 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee: Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 Että hän särkee vaskiportit, ja rikkoo rautaiset salvat. For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.
17 Hullut, jotka rangaistiin ylitsekäymisensä tähden, ja synteinsä tähden, Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
18 Heidän sielunsa kauhistui kaikkea ruokaa, ja saivat kuolintautinsa. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
19 Ja he huusivat Herraa tuskissansa, ja hän autti heitä heidän hädistänsä. Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
20 Hän lähetti sanansa ja paransi heitä, ja pelasti heitä, ettei he kuolleet. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
21 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee, Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
22 Ja uhratkaan kiitosuhria, ja luetelkaan hänen tekojansa ilolla. And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
23 Jotka haaksilla meressä vaeltavat, ja asiansa toimittavat suurilla vesillä, They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;
24 He näkivät Herran työt, ja hänen ihmeensä syvyydessä. These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.
25 Kuin hän sanoi, ja paisutti suuren ilman, joka aallot nosti ylös, For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
26 Niin he menivät ylös taivasta kohden ja menivät syvyyteen alas, että heidän sielunsa ahdistuksesta epäili, They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
27 Että he horjuivat ja hoipertelivat niinkuin juopuneet, ja ei silleen neuvoa tietäneet; They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.
28 Ja he huusivat Herraa tuskissansa, ja hän autti heitä heidän hädistänsä. Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
29 Ja hän hillitsi kovan ilman, että aallot asettuivat. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
30 Ja he tulivat iloisiksi, että tyveni, ja hän vei heitä satamaan heidän mielensä jälkeen. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
31 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Ja ylistäkään häntä kansan seurakunnassa, ja kiittäkään häntä vanhimpain seassa, Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33 Joka virrat teki erämaaksi, ja vesilähteet kuivaksi maaksi, He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;
34 Ettei hedelmällinen maa mitään kantanut, heidän pahuutensa tähden, jotka siinä asuivat. A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
35 Erämaan teki hän vesilammiksi ja kuivan maan vesilähteeksi, He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
36 Ja asetti sinne isoovaiset; ja he valmistivat siihen kaupunkia, jossa he asuivat, And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
37 Ja kylvivät pellot ja viinapuita istuttivat, ja saivat jokavuotisen hedelmän. And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
38 Ja hän siunasi heitä ja he sangen suuresti enenivät, ja hän antoi paljon karjaa heille; He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39 Jotka olivat painetut alas ja sorretut pahain väkivallalta ja ahdistukselta, Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
40 Koska ylönkatse päämiesten päälle vuodatettu oli, ja kaikki maa eksyksissä ja autiona oli. He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.
41 Ja hän varjeli köyhää raadollisuudesta, ja enensi hänen sukunsa niinkuin lauman. Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
42 Näitä vanhurskaat näkevät ja iloitsevat, ja jokainen paha suu pitää tukittaman. The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
43 Kuka on taitava ja näitä kätkee, se ymmärtää Herran moninaisen laupiuden. Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.
