| 1 | (H2:2) Und Jona betete zu Jehova, seinem Gott, aus dem Bauche des Fisches und sprach: | Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly, |
| 2 | (H2:3) Ich rief aus meiner Bedrängnis zu Jehova, und er antwortete mir; ich schrie aus dem Schoße des Scheols, du hörtest meine Stimme. | And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. |
| 3 | (H2:4) Denn du hattest mich in die Tiefe, in das Herz der Meere geworfen, und der Strom umschloß mich; alle deine Wogen und deine Wellen fuhren über mich hin. | For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. |
| 4 | (H2:5) Und ich sprach: Verstoßen bin ich aus deinen Augen; dennoch werde ich wieder hinschauen nach deinem heiligen Tempel. | Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. |
| 5 | (H2:6) Die Wasser umfingen mich bis an die Seele, die Tiefe umschloß mich, das Meergras schlang sich um mein Haupt. | The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. |
| 6 | (H2:7) Ich fuhr hinab zu den Gründen der Berge; der Erde Riegel waren hinter mir auf ewig. Da führtest du mein Leben aus der Grube herauf, Jehova, mein Gott. | I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. |
| 7 | (H2:8) Als meine Seele in mir verschmachtete, gedachte ich Jehovas, und zu dir kam mein Gebet in deinen heiligen Tempel. | When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. |
| 8 | (H2:9) Die auf nichtige Götzen achten, verlassen ihre Gnade. | They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. |
| 9 | (H2:10) Ich aber werde dir opfern mit der Stimme des Lobes; was ich gelobt habe, werde ich bezahlen. Bei Jehova ist die Rettung. | But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord. |
