Unto the end, a psalm for David. | O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
Hear O God, my prayer, when I make supplication to thee: deliver my soul from the fear of the enemy. | To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Thou hast protected me from the assembly of the malignant; from the multitude of the workers of iniquity. | Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
For they have whetted their tongues like a sword; they have bent their bow a bitter thing, | Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
To shoot in secret the undefiled. | My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
They will shoot at him on a sudden, and will not fear: they are resolute in wickedness. They have talked of hiding snares; they have said: Who shall see them? | When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
They have searched after iniquities: they have failed in their search. Man shall come to a deep heart: | Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
And God shall be exalted. The arrows of children are their wounds: | My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
And their tongues against them are made weak. All that saw them were troubled; | But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
And every man was afraid. And they declared the works of God, and understood his doings. | They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
The just shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall hope in him: and all the upright in heart shall be praised. | But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
