| 1 | A gradual canticle. I rejoiced at the things that were said to me: We shall go into the house of the Lord. | I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. |
| 2 | Our feet were standing in thy courts, O Jerusalem. | My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. |
| 3 | Jerusalem, which is built as a city, which is compact together. | He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. |
| 4 | For thither did the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord: the testimony of Israel, to praise the name of the Lord. | Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. |
| 5 | Because their seats have sat in judgment, seats upon the house of David. | The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. |
| 6 | Pray ye for the things that are for the peace of Jerusalem: and abundance for them that love thee. | The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. |
| 7 | Let peace be in thy strength: and abundance in thy towers. | The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. |
| 8 | For the sake of my brethren, and of my neighbours, I spoke peace of thee. | The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. |
