Give glory to the Lord, and call upon his name: declare his deeds among the Gentiles. | Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
Sing to him, yea sing praises to him: relate all his wondrous works. | Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. | Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
Seek ye the Lord, and be strengthened: seek his face evermore. | Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Remember his marvellous works which he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth. | Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
O ye seed of Abraham his servant; ye sons of Jacob his chosen. | Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth. | At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
He hath remembered his covenant for ever: the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. | They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
Which he made to Abraham; and his oath to Isaac: | Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
And he appointed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting testament: | He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
Saying: To thee will I give the land of Chanaan, the lot of your inheritance. | They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
When they were but a small number: yea very few, and sojourners therein: | By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
And they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people. | He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
He suffered no man to hurt them: and he reproved kings for their sakes. | He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
Touch ye not my anointed: and do no evil to my prophets. | And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
And he called a famine upon the land: and he broke in pieces all the support of bread. | The trees of the Lord are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
He sent a man before them: Joseph, who was sold for a slave. | Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
They humbled his feet in fetters: the iron pierced his soul, | The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
Until his word came. The word of the Lord inflamed him. | He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
The king sent, and he released him: the ruler of the people, and he set him at liberty. | Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
He made him master of his house, and ruler of all his possession. | The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
That he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his ancients wisdom. | The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
And Israel went into Egypt: and Jacob was a sojourner in the land of Cham. | Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
And he increased his people exceedingly: and strengthened them over their enemies. | O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
He turned their heart to hate his people: and to deal deceitfully with his servants. | So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
He sent Moses his servant: Aaron the man whom he had chosen. | There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
He gave them power to shew them signs, and his wonders in the land of Cham. | These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
He sent darkness, and made it obscure: and grieved not his words. | That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
He turned their waters into blood, and destroyed their fish. | Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
Their land brought forth frogs, in the inner chambers of their kings. | Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
He spoke, and there came divers sorts of flies and sciniphs in all their coasts. | The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.
He gave them hail for rain, a burning fire in the land. | He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
And he destroyed their vineyards and their fig trees: and he broke in pieces the trees of their coasts. | I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
He spoke, and the locust came, and the bruchus, of which there was no number. | My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.
And they devoured all the grass in their land, and consumed all the fruit of their ground. | Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord, O my soul. Praise ye the Lord.
And he slew all the firstborn in their land: the firstfruits of all their labour. | —
And he brought them out with silver and gold: and there was not among their tribes one that was feeble. | —
Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them lay upon them. | —
He spread a cloud for their protection, and fire to give them light in the night. | —
They asked, and the quail came: and he filled them with the bread of heaven. | —
He opened the rock, and waters flowed: rivers ran down in the dry land. | —
Because he remembered his holy word, which he had spoken to his servant Abraham. | —
And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness. | —
And he gave them the lands of the Gentiles: and they possessed the labours of the people: | —
That they might observe his justifications, and seek after his law. | —
