|---|---|---|
Paulus og Silvanus og Timotheus til de Thessalonikers Menighed, i Gud vor Fader den Herre Jesus Christus: | Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Naade være med Eder og Fred, fra Gud vor Fader og den Herre Jesus Christus! | Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Vi ere Skyldige altid at takke Gud for Eder, Brødre! som tilbørligt er, fordi Eders Tro voxer kraftigen, og Kjærligheden formeres hos enhver af Eder alle mod hverandre, | We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
saa at vi selv rose os af Eder i Guds Menigheder formedelst Eders Taalmodighed og tro under alle Eders Forfølgelser og Trængsler, som I fordrage, | So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
et Beviis paa Guds retfærdige Dom: at I skulle agtes værdige til Guds Rige, for hvilket I og lide; | Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
efterdi det er retfærdigt for Gud at gengjelde dem Trængsel, som trænge Eder, | Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
men Eder, som trænges, Ro med os, i den Herres Jesu Aabenbarelse af Himmelen med sin Magtes Engle, | And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
med Ildslue, naar han bringer Hevn over dem, som ikke kjende Gud, og over dem, som ikke er vor Herres Jesu Christi Evangelium lydige, | In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
hvilke skulle lide Straf, en evig Fortabelse fra Herrens Ansigt og fra hans Magtes Herlighed, | Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
naar han kommer paa hiin Dag, at herliggjøres i sine Hellige og beundres i dem, som troe; thi vort Vidnesbyrd er blevet troet hos Eder. | When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
Derfor bede vi ogsaa altid for Eder, at vor Gud vil agte Eder sit Kald værdige, og med Kraft fuldkomme al ham velbehagelig Godhed og Troens Gjerning, | Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
paa det vor Herres Jesu Christi Navn maa herliggjøres i Eder, og I udi ham, efter vor Guds og den Herres Jesu Christi Naade. | That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
