| 1 | 烏斯 地 有 一個人 名叫 約伯；那 人 完全 正直，敬畏 神，遠離 惡事。 | There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. |
| 2 | 他 生了 七個 兒子，三個 女兒。 | And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. |
| 3 | 他的家產 有 七 千 羊，三 千 駱駝，五 百 對 牛，五 百 母驢，並有許 多 僕婢。這 人 在東方 人 中就為 至大。 | His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. |
| 4 | 他的兒子 按著日子 各 在 自己家 裡設擺筵宴，就打發人去，請了 他們的三個 姊妹來，與他們 一同吃 喝。 | And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. |
| 5 | 筵宴 的日子 過了，約伯 打發 人去叫他們自潔。他清早 起來，按著他們眾人 的數目 獻 燔祭；因為 他 說：「恐怕 我兒子 犯了罪，心中 棄掉 神。」約伯 常常 這樣 行。 | And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. |

| 7 | 耶和華 問 撒但 說：「你從哪裡 來？」撒但 回答 說：「我從地上 走來走去，往返而來。」 | And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. |
| 8 | 耶和華 問 撒但 說：「你曾用 心 察看 我的僕人 約伯沒有？ 地上 再沒有 人 像他 完全 正直，敬畏 神，遠離 惡事。」 | And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? |
| 9 | 撒但 回答 耶和華 說：「約伯 敬畏 神，豈是無故呢？ | Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? |
| 10 | 你 豈不是 四面 圈上籬笆 圍護他 和 他的家，並 他 一切 所有的嗎？他手 所做的 都蒙你賜福；他的家產 也在地上 增多。 | Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. |
| 11 | 你且 伸 手 毀 他 一切 所有的；他必 當 面 棄掉你。」 | But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. |
| 12 | 耶和華 對 撒但 說：「 凡 他 所 有的都在你手中；只是 不可 伸 手 加害於他。」於是撒但 從 耶和華 面前 退去。 | And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. |

| 15 | 示巴人 忽然闖來，把牲畜擄去，並用 刀 殺了 僕人；惟有 我 一人 逃脫，來報信 給你。」 | And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 16 | 他 還 說話的時候，又有人 來 說：「 神 從 天上 降下 火來，將群羊 和僕人 都燒 滅了；惟有 我 一人 逃脫，來報信 給你。」 | While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 17 | 他 還 說話的時候，又有人 來 說：「迦勒底人 分作 三 隊 忽然闖來，把 駱駝 擄去，並用 刀 殺了 僕人；惟有 我 一人 逃脫，來報信 給你。」 | While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 18 | 他 還 說話的時候，又有人 來 說：「你的兒 女 正在他們長 兄 的家 裡吃飯 喝 酒， | While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: |
| 19 | 不料，有狂 風 從 曠野 颳來，擊打 房屋 的四 角，房屋倒塌 在 少年人身上，他們就都死了；惟有 我 一人 逃脫，來報信 給你。」 | And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 20 | 約伯 便起來，撕裂 外袍，剃了 頭，伏在 地上 下拜， | Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, |
| 21 | 說：「我赤身 出 於母 胎，也必赤身 歸回；賞賜 的是耶和華，收取 的也是耶和華。耶和華 的名 是 應當稱頌的。」 | And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. |
| 22 | 在這 一切的事上 約伯 並不 犯罪，也不以 神 為愚妄（或譯：也不妄評 神）。 | In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. |
