| 1 | 凡 信 耶穌 是 基督的，都是從 神 而生， 凡 愛 生他之 神的，也 必愛 從 神 生的。 | Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. |
| 2 | 我們若愛 神，又 遵守 他的 誡命，從 此 就知道 我們愛 神的 兒女。 | By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. |
| 3 | 我們遵守 神的 誡命， 這 就是 愛 他了，並且 他的 誡命 不 是 難守的。 | For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. |
| 4 | 因為 凡 從 神 生的，就勝過 世界； 使我們勝了 世界 的，就 是 我們的 信心。 | For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. |
| 5 | 勝過 世界 的是 誰呢？不是 那信 耶穌 是 神 兒子的嗎？ | Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? |
| 6 | 這 藉著 水 和 血 而來的，就是 耶穌 基督；不是 單 用 水，乃是 用 水 又 用 血， | This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. |
| 7 | 並且 有 聖靈 作見證，因為 聖靈 就是 真理。 | For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. |
| 8 | 作見證的 原來有 三：就是聖靈、 水，與 血，這三樣 也 都 歸於 一。 | And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. |
| 9 | 我們既 領受 人 的見證， 神 的見證更該領受（該領受：原文是大）了，因 神的 見證 是 為 他 兒子 作的。 | If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. |

| 14 | 我們若 照 他的 旨意 求 甚麼，他就聽 我們， 這 是 我們向 他 所存 坦然無懼的心。 | And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: |
| 15 | 既然 知道 他聽 我們 一切 所求的，就知道 我們所求 於 他的，無不得著。 | And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. |
| 16 | 人 若 看見 弟兄 犯了 不 至於 死 的罪，就當為他祈求， 神必將生命 賜給 他；有 至於 死 的罪，我不 說 當為 這罪 祈求。 | If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. |
| 17 | 凡 不義 的事都是 罪，也 有 不 至於 死 的罪。 | All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. |
| 18 | 我們知道 凡 從 神 生的，必不 犯罪， 從 神 生的，必保守 自己（有古卷：那從 神生的必保護他），那惡者 也 就無法 害 他。 | We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. |
| 19 | 我們知道， 我們是 屬 神的， 全 世界 都臥 在那惡者 手下。 | And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. |
| 20 | 我們也 知道， 神的 兒子 已經來到，且 將智慧 賜給 我們，使 我們認識 那位真實的，我們也 在那位真實的 裡面，就是在 他 兒子 耶穌 基督裡面。這 是 真 神，也是 永 生。 | And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. |
| 21 | 小子們哪，你們要自 守，遠避 偶像！ | Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. |
