| 2 | 親愛的弟兄啊，我們現在 是 神的 兒女， 將來 如何，還未 顯明；但我們知道， 主若 顯現，我們必要 像 他，因為 必得見 他的 真體。 | Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. |
| 3 | 凡 向 他 有 這 指望的，就潔淨 自己，像 他 潔淨一樣。 | And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. |

| 14 | 我們 因為 愛 弟兄，就曉得 是已經 出 死 入 生了。沒有 愛心的，仍住 在死 中。 | We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. |
| 15 | 凡 恨 他 弟兄的，就是 殺人的； 你們曉得 凡 殺人的，沒 有 永 生 存 在他 裡面。 | Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. |
| 16 | 主 為 我們 捨 命，我們從 此 就知道 何為愛；我們 也 當 為 弟兄 捨 命。 | Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. |
| 17 | 凡 有 世上 財物的， 看見 弟兄 窮乏，卻 塞住 憐恤的心，愛 神 的心怎能 存 在 他裡面呢？ | But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? |
| 18 | 小子們哪，我們相愛，不要 只 在言語 和 舌頭上，總要 在行為 和 誠實上。 | My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. |
| 19 | 從 此 就 知道 我們是 屬 真理的，並且 我們的 心在 神 面前 可以安穩。 | And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. |
| 20 | 我們的 心 若 責備我們， 神 比我們的 心 大， 一切事 沒有不知道的。 | For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. |
| 21 | 親愛的弟兄啊，我們的 心 若 不 責備我們，就可以向 神 坦然無懼了。 | Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. |
| 22 | 並且 我們一切 所求的，就從 他 得著；因為 我們遵守 他的 命令， 行 他 所喜悅的事。 | And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. |
| 23 | 神的 命令 就 是 叫 我們信 他 兒子 耶穌 基督 的名，且 照 他所賜給 我們的 命令 彼此 相愛。 | And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. |
| 24 | 遵守 神 命令的，就住 在 神裡面， 神 也 住在 他裡面。 我們所以 知道 神住 在 我們 裡面是因 他所 賜給 我們 的聖靈。 | And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. |
