| 1 | 我 小子們哪，我將這些話 寫 給你們，是要叫 你們不 犯罪。 若 有人 犯罪，在 父 那裡我們有 一位中保，就是那義者 耶穌 基督。 | My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: |
| 2 | 他 為 我們的 罪 作了挽回祭， 不 是單 為 我們的罪，也是 為 普 天下人的罪。 | And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. |
| 3 | 我們若 遵守 他的 誡命，就曉得 是認識 他。 | And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. |
| 4 | 人若說「我認識 他」， 卻不 遵守 他的 誡命，便是 說謊話的， 真理 也不 在 他 心裡了。 | He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. |
| 5 | 凡 遵守 主 道的，愛 神 的心在他 裡 面實在 是完全的。從此，我們知道 我們是 在主 裡面。 | But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. |
| 6 | 人若說 他住在 主 裡面，就該 自己 照 主 所行 的去行。 | He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. |
| 7 | 親愛的弟兄啊，我寫 給你們的，不是 一條新 命令，乃是 你們 從 起初 所受的舊 命令；這舊 命令 就是 你們所聽見 的道。 | Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. |
| 8 | 再者，我寫 給你們的，是一條新 命令， 在 主 是 真的， 在 你們也是真的；因為 黑暗 漸漸過去， 真 光 已經 照耀。 | Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. |
| 9 | 人若說 自己在 光明 中，卻 恨 他的 弟兄，他到如今 還是在 黑暗 裡。 | He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. |
| 10 | 愛 弟兄的，就是住在 光明 中， 在 他 並沒 有 絆跌的緣由。 | He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. |
| 11 | 惟獨 恨 弟兄的，是 在黑暗 裡， 且在黑暗 裡 行， 也不 知道 往哪裡 去，因為 黑暗 叫他 眼睛 瞎了。 | But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. |
| 12 | 小子們哪，我寫 信給你們，因為 你們 的罪 藉著 主名 得了赦免。 | I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. |
| 13 | 父老啊，我寫 信給你們，因為 你們認識 那從 起初原有的。少年人哪，我寫 信給你們，因為 你們勝了 那惡者。小子們哪，我曾寫 信給你們，因為 你們認識 父。 | I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. |
| 14 | 父老啊，我曾寫 信給你們，因為 你們認識 那從 起初原有的。少年人哪，我曾寫 信給你們；因為 你們 剛強， 神 的道 常存 在 你們心裡； 你們也勝了 那惡者。 | I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. |
| 15 | 不 要愛 世界 和 世界上 的事。人 若 愛 世界，愛 父 的心就不 在他 裡面了。 | Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. |
| 16 | 因為，凡 世界上的事，就像肉體的 情慾、 眼目的 情慾，並 今生的 驕傲，都不是 從 父來的，乃 是 從 世界來的。 | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. |
| 17 | 這世界 和 其上的 情慾 都要過去，惟 獨遵行 神 旨意的，是永遠 常存。 | And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. |
| 18 | 小子們哪，如今是 末 時了。 你們曾聽見說，那敵基督 的要來； 現在 已經有 好些 敵基督的出來了，從此 我們就知道 如今是 末 時了。 | Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. |
| 19 | 他們從 我們 中間出去，卻 不 是 屬 我們的； 若 是 屬 我們的，就必仍舊 與 我們同在；他們出去， 顯明 都 不 是 屬我們的。 | They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. |
| 20 | 你們 從 那聖者 受了 恩膏，並且 知道 這一切的事（或譯：都有知識）。 | But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. |
| 21 | 我寫 信給你們，不 是因 你們不 知道 真理，正是 因 你們知道，並且 知道沒 有虛謊 是 從 真理出來的。 | I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. |
| 22 | 誰 是 說謊話的呢？ 不是 那不認 耶穌 為 基督的嗎？不認 父 與 子的，這 就是 敵基督的。 | Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. |
| 23 | 凡 不認 子的，就沒 有 父；認 子的，連父 也 有了。 | Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. |
| 24 | 論到你們，務要將那 從 起初 所聽見的，常存 在心 裡。若 將 從 起初 所聽見 的存 在心 裡，你們 就 必住 在子 裡面，也 必住在父 裡面。 | Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. |
| 25 | 主 所應許 我們 的 就是 永 生。 | And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. |
| 26 | 我將這些 話寫給 你們，是指著 那引誘 你們的人說的。 | These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. |
| 27 | 你們 從 主 所受 的恩膏 常存 在你們 心裡，並 不 用 人 教訓 你們， 自有 主的 恩膏 在凡事 上 教訓 你們。 這恩膏是 真的， 不 是 假的； 你們 要按 這恩膏的教訓 住 在主 裡面。 | But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. |
| 28 | 小子們哪，你們要住 在主 裡面。這樣，他若 顯現，我們就可以 坦然無懼； 當 他 來的時候，在他 面前 也不至於 慚愧。 | And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. |
| 29 | 你們若 知道 他是 公義的，就知道 凡 行 公義 之人 都是他 所 生的。 | If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. |
