1 主 知道 法利賽人 聽見 他 收 門徒， 施洗，比 約翰 還多， When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 （其實 不是 耶穌 親自 施洗，乃是 他的 門徒施洗，） (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3 他就離了 猶太， 又 往 加利利 去。 He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 必須 經過 撒馬利亞， And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 於是 到了 撒馬利亞 的一座城，名叫 敘加，靠近 雅各 給 他 兒子 約瑟 的那塊地。 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 在 那裡 有雅各 井；耶穌 因 走路 困乏，就 坐在 井旁。那時 約有 午正。 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 有一個撒馬利亞 的 婦人 來 打 水。耶穌 對她 說：「請你給 我 水喝。」 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 （ 那時門徒 進 城 買 食物 去了。） (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 撒馬利亞 的婦人 對他 說：「你 既是 猶太人，怎麼 向 我 一個 撒馬利亞 婦人 要 水喝呢？」原來 猶太人 和撒馬利亞人 沒有 來往。 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 耶穌 回答 說：「你若 知道 神 的恩賜，和 對你 說『給 我 水喝』的是 誰，你 必 早求 他， 他也必 早給了 你 活 水。」 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 婦人 說：「先生，沒有 打水的器具， 井 又 深，你 從哪裡 得 活 水呢？ The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 我們的 祖宗 雅各 將 這井 留給 我們， 他自己 和 兒子 並 牲畜 也都 喝這井裡的水，難道 你 比他還大嗎？」 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 耶穌 回答 說：「凡 喝 這 水 的還要再 渴； Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 人 若喝 我 所賜的 水 就永遠不 渴。 我所賜的 水 要在 他 裡頭 成為泉源，直湧到 永 生。」 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 婦人 說：「先生，請把這 水 賜給 我，叫 我不 渴，也不用 來 這麼遠打水。」 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 耶穌 說：「你去 叫 你 丈夫 也 到 這裡來。」 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 婦人 說：「我沒有 丈夫。」耶穌 說：「你說 沒有 丈夫 是不錯的。 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 你已經有 五 個丈夫， 你現在 有的 並不是 你的 丈夫。你這話 是真的。」 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 婦人 說：「先生，我看出 你 是 先知。 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 我們的 祖宗 在 這 山上 禮拜， 你們 倒說， 應當 禮拜 的地方 是 在 耶路撒冷。」 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 耶穌 說：「婦人，你當信 我。時候 將到， 你們拜 父，也不 在 這 山上，也不 在 耶路撒冷。 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 你們 所拜的， 你們不 知道；我們所拜的，我們 知道，因為 救恩 是 從 猶太人出來的。 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 時候 將到， 如今 就是了， 那真正 拜父的，要用 心靈 和 誠實 拜 他，因為 父 要 這樣的 人拜 他。 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 神 是個靈（或無個字）， 所以拜 他 的必須 用 心靈 和 誠實 拜他。」 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 婦人 說：「我知道 彌賽亞（就是 那稱為 基督的）要來； 他 來了，必將一切的事 都告訴 我們。」 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 耶穌 說：「這 和你 說話的 就是他！」 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 當下 門徒 回來， 就希奇 耶穌和 一個婦人 說話；只是 沒有人 說：「你是要 甚麼？」或說：「你為甚麼 和 她 說話？」 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 那婦人 就 留下 水罐子， 往 城 裡去， 對眾人 說： The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 「你們來 看！有一個人 將我素來 所行的 一切事 都給我 說出來了，莫非 這 就是 基督嗎？」 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 眾人就出 城， 往 耶穌 那裡去。 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 這其間，門徒 對耶穌 說：「拉比，請吃。」 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 耶穌說：「我 有 食物 吃，是 你們 不 知道的。」 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 門徒 就彼此 對問說：「莫非 有人 拿 甚麼給他 吃嗎？」 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 耶穌 說：「我的 食物 就是 遵行 差 我 來者的旨意， 做成 他的 工。 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 你們 豈不 說『到 收割 的時候還有 四個月』嗎？ 我告訴 你們，舉 目 向田 觀看， 莊稼 已經熟了（原文是發白），可以收割了。 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 收割的 人得 工價， 積蓄 五穀 到 永 生，叫 撒種的 和 收割的 一同 快樂。 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 俗語說：『 那人 撒種， 這人 收割』，這話可見是真的。 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 我 差 你們 去收 你們 所沒有 勞苦的；別人 勞苦， 你們 享受 他們 所勞苦的。」 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 那 城 裡有好些 撒馬利亞人 信了 耶穌，因為 那婦人 作見證 說：「 他將我素來所行的 一切事 都給我 說出來了。」 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 於是 撒馬利亞人 來見 耶穌，求 他 在他們 那裡住下， 他便在那裡 住了 兩 天。 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 因 耶穌的 話，信的 人就更多了， And many more believed because of his own word;
42 便對婦人 說：「現在 我們信，不是因為 你的 話，是 我們 親自聽見了， 知道 這 真是 救世主。」 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 過了 那兩 天，耶穌離了 那地方，往 加利利去。 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44 因為 耶穌 自己 作過見證說：「 先知 在 本 地 是 沒有 人尊敬的。」 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45 到了 加利利，加利利人 既然看見 他在 耶路撒冷 過節 所行的 一切事，就接待 他，因為 他們 也是 上去 過節。 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46 耶穌又 到了 加利利 的迦拿，就是他從前變 水 為酒 的地方。 有 一個 大臣，他的 兒子 在 迦百農 患病。 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 他 聽見 耶穌 從 猶太 到了 加利利，就來見 他， 求 他 下去 醫治 他的 兒子，因為 他兒子快要 死了。 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48 耶穌 就對 他 說：「若不 看見 神蹟 奇事，你們總是不 信。」 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 那大臣 說：「先生，求你趁著我的 孩子 還沒有死 就下去。」 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 耶穌 對他 說：「回去吧，你的 兒子 活了！」那人 信 耶穌 所 說的 話 就 回去了。 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 正 下去的時候，他的 僕人 迎見 他，說 他的 兒子 活了。 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 他就問 甚麼時候 見好的。 他們說：「昨日 未時 熱 就退了。」 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 他 便知道 這 正是 耶穌 對他 說「你 兒子 活了」的時候； 他自己 和 全 家 就都信了。 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 這是 耶穌 在加利利 行的 第二 件神蹟，是他從 猶太 回去以後行的。 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judea into Galilee.
